Was there a 5x5" bolt pattern 14 inch rim ever made?

I have this like new set of wide whites that are 14 inch, I want to put them on a 48 Pontiac. The problem is Pontiac is 5x5". I have 2 sets of rims for the car already. The stock 16" and a set of 15".
Does anyone know of any 14 inch steel rims with a 5x5" bolt pattern? Thanks

Just about every big Pontiac from 1958 through 1970 had 14" rims with a 5x5 pattern, except for those with heavy duty chassis options and those with disk brakes in 1968-1970. If you're coming over to Back to the 50s in St. Paul this weekend, I have a whole bunch of 14" steel rims off 1961 Pontiacs and I'd give you a killer deal on a set of four. Either that, or give me that set of tires. :)

  3. The '57-58 Chrysler Imperials had 14" rims, and for some reason I think the B.C. on those was 5 on 5". I know Chrysler products are typically 4 1/2" bolt circle...

I may be wrong about the bolt circle...dad has a '59 in his yard I can measure unless someone says for certain I am wrong. I am right about the 14" rims though...

ok, since I know the rims I need are out there, I'll steer this thread right into the ditch:D, funny you bring up the imperials, I spent the day at the junk yard digging through a pile of steel rims about 15 ft high, I've seen this car there many time, but brought my camera today. The writing on the window says "413-G" and "Auto-G"--- I think its a neat car,

My '64 Olds 98 has 5 on 5 in a 14" too. Should have several options there for wheels.

Dig that '61 Imperial, where is that one?

Imperials always had the early Ford bolt pattern 5 on 5.5" circle.
The rim sizes varied but the bolt pattern on ALL Imperials is 5 on 5.5".

The New Yorker, Saratoga, and other V8 and 6cyl Chryslers had the 5 on 4.5" pattern which is the later 49-up Ford bolt pattern for most cars.

  13. I'm glad I made the disclaimer...

I should have remembered about the late 50's through 1960's BOP's as my first car was a '63 Olds 88...

Imperial is 5 1/2" same as early Ford. And those wheels will fit over Ford 12" drums too.

58 to 64 Pontiac, and 68 to 67 Olds had 5" bolt pattern by 14" wheels

it's sitting in a junk yard in Neshkoro WI 54960
motor and tranny are in it yet
Its a very neat yard, all the cars are lined up under pine trees, no sun and lots of ticks

  17. Here's the skinny - 58-up Pontiac, but at least through '62 the center is flatter and requires a clip to hold the small cap on; where '58-up Oldsmobile, or at least the '59 I had, have a more modern center with nubs for a snap-on small cap. They seemed like they were wider, too, but that might just have been different backspacing because Pontiac had the wide track and Olds didn't.

At some point ('64) that goes out the window as GM standardized things across the makes.

And of course that's only the full size cars, the compacts had a different pattern.

As for the Imperial, later Imperials are 5x5" for some reason, early ones are the big Ford pattern, by the 57-63 models I'm pretty sure it's 5x5" and definately by the 64-up models.

If you can get some late 50's early 60's Pontiac wheels, they have the snap in wheel clips for the poverty caps if thats what your using where the 48 wheels have the rivited clips for the centercap. The 48 caps should fit those rims , I know at least the 55-6 Pontiac dogdish will fit my 41 Pontiac 16" wheels. They should all interchange somewhat.

Oh and I wouldn't stack the tires like that especially with the armor all or whatever, could turn the sidewalls brown and make it harder to get them clean.

  21. After '66 they're 5 on 5" until '73, but always on a 15" wheel.

HAMB member Engine-Ear is in the Milwaukee area, he has a ton of old Pontiacs and may have some 14" wheels to spare - if not he may know other Pontiac guys in the area who can help you out. Send him a PM, tell him I sent you. :)

  26. I parted out a 60 Olds many years ago. Had 14x6 wheels with 5 on 5 bolt pattern. Just to widen your search to Oldsmobile also. I could not hardly give those wheels away, everyone wants 15 inch. You should be able to find some 14 inch without much trouble.

nope not me, just bought these on saturday

  28. As far as 5x5 pattern, GM full size BOP and Cad are 5x5" from like the mid-30s through 1976, Chevy full size is 71-76, Chevy 2WD full size trucks from '71-up. 77-up GM cars get more complicated - only the biggest full size cars and wagons are 5x5", you kind of have to know your models to know what's what.

What that means is there's a lot of wheel variety out there for factory rims. It's interesting that for instance while Chevy, Pontiac and Olds went to 14" wheels in '58-'59, Buick stayed 15" through at least '61. And Cadillac is still another story, although still 15 inch the rims have a different shape to the lip, the Caddy caps I have won't fit any other GM rims. At least not easily.

My 1967 Catalina had 14 X 6" wheels and I parted out a 1964 Olds 98 with H78's on 14 X 7's many, many years ago. Wish I had that one now, had a running 394 in it and power EVERYTHING........
