I'm 69 years young, with a '32 Plymouth I bought 47 years ago. I have a second '32 Plymouth that I've only had about 10 years, and a '48 Continental that I bought in 1967. These projects sure do eat up time...

  16. Age: 56. Got my '30 Coupe when I was 18 (still have it!). Back then it seemed like most Model A's were owned by "old guys".......still does (except now I'm one of them). I've had my '34 5-window Coupe for 10 years.

  18. It's great to see all the young guys with these cars. I've been into cars of all kinds since I was 18 but didn't get my hot rod ('31 A, first older than 1960) until I was 55.

62 and my name has been on the title of the 48 since 1973.
But I was one of those 27 year old "young guys" when I bought the truck for 75.00 in 1973 and made a rod out of it so I could go to Tulsa for the nationals
As a side note a 65 Mustang is at this moment 44 years old. When I attended the street rod Nationals in Tulsa a 32 Ford was 41 years old and my 48 Chev pickup was considered by some to be too "new" at the ripe old age of 25 at the time.

I think some of the guys see chainer's cars with the stiff designer rod price tags and think that that is the norm while others see the prices in some of the magazines for parts and pieces and think that they can't afford to build a rod or early custom instead of really investigating things like the younger guys here do. I see a lot of sweat and banged finger equity in a lot of the cars shown by the younger guys here rather than bucks spent going to shops or buying ready made pieces.
