The BMR car is not a modified roadster. It is a Fuel or Gas class Roadster As is mine. The cars like Harold Johansens #32 "T" roadster is a modified. I believe that when Al Holoway built his (Now minw) roadster it was the first roadster to run the hood back to the door. Much complaning about it at the time, but it has the same frontal area as any other '28-'29 Ford roadster.
Thanks for sharing. It looks like the weather cooperated. Any idea how many records were set and in which classes? Frank
I'm not sure. They will post that information on the SCTA site eventually. Here is the link: http://www.scta-bni.org/SCTA-NewWeb/El%20Mirage/ELM%2009/ELM_Results09.htm
Great Pictures..thank you for sharing. These are the kind of shots i'm going to savor for a week or two.....Awsome eye candy!
Thanx for taking the time to post the pix's! I lived in Victorville for a couple of years and use to love going out there to watch 'em run. You never know what you're gonna see out there in the desert and the innovation in some of those cars is awesome! Thanx again
Ford had 2 different bodies in 28-29. Murray, and Ford. Murray bodies had a smooth transition to the cowl like 30- 31, Ford bodies had a step at the door post, you can see those differences in some of these el mirage fotos.
It sounds like the rider that crashed will be ok but he is pretty beat up. From the Land Racing website: hello everyone the rider of the bike is richard bozzie ( rider of the green harley bagger ) brother of dave bozzie (rider of the green twin engine harley )--dave built the motor in the bike that i did in the build diaries ---old time lake racer bike---they flew him to palm springs trauma center---i talked to dave late last night--- dave said he had a cracked vertebra and a blood vessel in his head that was leaking ---they wernt sure what they were going to do yet --richard is a very tough guy and i expect that he will be ok http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,6174.0.html
Heres mine, not a huge crowd but the weather was nice! MALCOLM stopped by on his way home to Nebraska with his new toy, Hell of a nice kid, good meetin ya! Someone here had asked about dually wheels on a Hot Rod......NAH!
Thanks for the pics! We missed this month because the "Brick" is down, but we hope to be there in July. Gotta get a run in before Bonneville.
Another picture from the lake. I lifted it from http://www.pbase.com/marauder61/land_speed_racing_el_mirage_june14_2009 He is going to be OK.
