I saw an ad on craigslist for a 34 chevy sedan body...had to be moved right away...$150. So I grabbed some cash and the trailer and off I go. when I got there it obviously wasn't a 34...looked more 36ish, grabbed it anyway. after some internet research...36-37 Plymouth?? what do you think. the rear was bobbed or something, there is no floor and the dash is hacked
I'm no expert, but it looks like a '37 Chev...but I'm dumb, so who knows...any body tags inside the door jambs?
here's a bunch of 36 chevy sedans. http://www.carnut.com/photo/list/chev/chev36/c36s2.html ...or it could be a 1935 "master deluxe" which looks like a cross between a 35 and 36...
Looks like a 35-36 Mopar to me. Definitely not a 35 Chevy Master...they had tons of wood inside, and they had suicide doors. Cool start to a project, whatever it is!
Could be Mopar, but it would have to be earlier than '37, since yours has a roof insert. Mopars had a solid roof starting in '37.
It's a Chrysler product for a certainty. I know that firewall well. It's a '36 because of the lower corners of the windshield. ('35s were round at the bottom). The question of whether it's a Plymouth or Dodge lies in whether or not there are hole along the belt line to accomodate stainless moldings. I'm not quite sure from the picture, but I believe that is the case. It's also likely that it's a Dodge because it has the steel roof insert. All of the '36 Plymouths that I have ever seen have had the canvas inserts. I suppose that it could also be a Chrysler or a De Soto, be I think that some (most?) of them have two-piece windshields. A photo of the dashboard (if it has one) would confirm my guess that it's a '36 Dodge. It's the same body as a Plymouth, but it has the steel roof insert and the holes in the sides for the stainless. Someone building a Plymouth sedan might be very interested in the roof insert.
Well it's not a Ford so it must be a Chevy, right? I mean anything that's not a Ford has to be a Chevy. It's just that simple. By the way, I think you may have installed the transmission backward. Okay, one more time, only this time more cow bell!
That oval shaped lighter spot below the round hole in the center of the firewall is shaped just like a Plymouth serial tag from that era. What's the tag below it?
Mopars mounted the coil in that circular hole in the top of the firewall, with a three bolt flange. 150 bucks doesn't look bad to me.
'36 Plymouth has one huge round gauge cluster right in the center of the dash, so it's easy to tell if it's a Plymouth or not. I'm guessing not since it has the steel roof insert, almost has to be Dodge.
The 37-38 Chevrolets have a body line in the door slanting down from front to back. The 35 Master Chevys are wood-structured with a solid steel turret top roof and have suicide doors (the only Chevys that do).
Nope not a Chevy...And not a '36 Chevy..But if you want a '36 Chevy I know a guy that know's a guy, that posted this add on some old hot rod site... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=367001 Looks very Plymouthy to me...I like it!
now that the thread is woke up did you do anything with this car body ? for $150 it was a pretty cool score anyways
