The Alamo? Not too much to do here really. The river walk has boat rides that the kids might enjoy. If you head north of town you can go tubing on the river, or visit Gruene. There's a historic town with good eats and shopping. There's a roller derby game on the 14th, but it's late so it may be no good for you.

Folk Life festival is that weekend. Eat at Aldocos at Sunset Station and take the shuttle. Do the Alamo, River Walk, and the Missions.

I'm not positive but I think the 2nd weekend every month in castroville just south of s.a. is a huge car gathering. Also here in kerrville which is 65 miles west on I-10 not only is it beautiful but every friday night at culvers which is by walmart we have cruise night. Usually 5 to 20 cars, not cruising but on display. If you head this way call me I'll tell you about the sights. 830-459-5252

Nick's auto salvage too, over on Roosevelt & 410 Loop. Lots of old cars.

    and the dragstrip also... http://www.sanantonioraceway.com/

And if you like vintage stuff, Alamo Antique Mall on Broadway near downtown is huge.

Garner State Park is about 90 miles west of SA out Hwy 90.
The most popular and most loved State Park in Texas.
A day trip wouldn't be a bad idea if you like hiking, swimming, tubing, dancing, the Texas Hill Country.

I second that, for the family, a trip to Garner, or anywhere on the Frio River is something to write home about. My family has land at Concan and I grew up going out there several times a year.
