Ok here we go.. This is my 3rd attempt at striping. I got tired of laying em down on glass so I grabbed the nearest thing in the garage. Just so happened to be a couple of old jackstands. I finished one tonight.

Let me know what you think.
    Thanks all

Ohh and I do have a question to anyone that wants to field it... How do I get the Stabio pencil marks off after the paint dries withtout screwing it up?
    Thanks

That looks killer! As for the pencil marks, I just let the paint dry real good and wipe the marks off with Windex.

Swiss 50... I would not mind striping up your jackstands. If your ok with the colors I have then no prob.. if you want another color then package it with the stands. little 4 oz cans of oneshot would be enough Im almost out of blue though hahah ... I would love the practice on something other than glass. :)

Oh and you get to pick up the shipping bill..

I was trying to finish up the jackstands to have my friend take to the local cruise in this weekend.. maybe get some opportunities to stipe something else..

    Thanks guys..

Fory thanks for the heads up on the windex.. !! I appreciate it

  8. Looking good. As far as Stabilo pencil marks. They tend to come off a little harder from flat surfaces ( i.e. primer ) Windex works for me too. If you havent done it check out Pinhead Lounge to see some great artists and thier work. Keep it up and have fun. If it will sit still stripe it:D

    I wouldn't complain , you're doing a great job !
    Just practice a lot !
Have you ever thought about pin stripping an entire car ?? Just use a car to do a ton of pin stripping to practice on ! Now that would be different !

The Pinhead Lounge is a great place to see some of the best stripping out there ! I love that place and the people are really helpful !

Hey the windex worked great! thanks.. as for the glove box.. sure.. anything will be something to do.

Im going to try my hand at my 86 Escort.. DIESEL!!! 58 mpg hahaha.. hybrids try that.

Yea I know its not a rod ... but ??? its definately a rare car LOL

Im also trying to get some little things together for the next car cruise in here in town and try to maybe get some projects. Do them for materials - it gets them pinstriping and gets me experience and my name out and about.

Thanks for all the feed back guys.. the guy that got me interested in this passed away a few years back so my well of knowledge locally is dried up.

You all are a big help. seriously. thank you.

I will prob start on the other stand this weekend and I will post it..take care.

Practice on your own stuff a lot before you actually lay paint on somebody else's car. I remember doing a friend's car in high school, and still cringe at the thought it may still be out there somewhere with my horrible pinstriping on it.

A refrigerator works great for practicing. Wipes clean fairly easily, so the wife (or mom) will never know you touched it.

Sometimes you have to learn to walk before you can run. Get the basics down first , there's a lot of good printed material that will give you some help . Good luck !

Thanks again for all the comments! I would never attempt to be someone Im not.. when I say this I mean that I fully inform everyone that wants me to do work for them that I am in the learning stage and that I am not a seasoned striper. I did however land a trade for my work today that involves 2 54 plymouths for me to layout some stripes and a couple designs in vinyl graphics.... not bad both cars run and are 4 doors..

Im putting a TIKI on the other jackstand and have 1 of the 4 sides done will post tomorrow or sunday the outcome.. a friend wants them for the car show this weekend so im in a rush.
once again thanks for all the input..you guys are all very receptive to "newbies"
hope to see you all around some day..
Does anyone know of any rod shows in ST. Louis area?
