Event Coverage EL MIRAGE - June 14th, 2009 - Who's Going?? + Road Trip back to Nebraska!

I'll be flying out to CA on June 13th to pick up a '68 Chevy pickup from a fellow HAMB member and plan to drive down to El Mirage that evening.

I see racing is scheduled for Sunday, June 14th. Who else is planning on going? Hopefully I can meet up with some of you that day.
This trip should be one hell of an experience!

The evening of the 14th, I will drive up to Las Vegas and leave on Monday morning, the 15th to go to Denver. Tuesday, the 16th, I'll drive the rest of the way to Omaha.

Maybe I can also meet up with some others along the way? Won't have a ton of extra time, but could certainly meet up for lunch, dinner, a shop/garage tour, etc.

Here's the new 'daily' -- can't wait for this road trip!

Haha... nope, it's a 2-barrel 350/350 auto. The only thing I might change is the transmission. Uncle John has a 700R4 that we may swap in.

You are going to have a great trip! I'm so sad I'll miss El Mirage by a week but I guess they got a little Roadster show going on Pomona when I'm out there. Maybe I'll check that out

 

Nick: To bad your not going a little later, the LARS is the next weekend! A new roadster owner should go for inspiration.

 

Someday I'll definitely go out to the LA Roadster Show, but I will wait until I can drive my own out there. Hopefully in 2011.
When I looked at dates to go out and get this pickup, that weekend certainly topped the list, but I am in a wedding in Sioux City on June 20th.

Really, I've ended up getting lucky with the weekend of June 13th, with El Mirage and the HAMB BBQ being the same weekend.

Malcolm, what are your plans for Denver on the way out? I'm just an hour north.

 

I'll be flying out on Friday afternoon and driving the pickup back.
I plan to stay in the Denver area on Monday evening and stop at VAPHEAD's (Eric) on Tuesday morning to grab a few parts before heading to Omaha.

 

i will be there a bbq'n all weekend !!! I can't wait!! hope to see you guys out there..
