This idea looks like fun. I have done a small bit of metal butchery in the past. A long time ago I made generator belt gaurds for Indian Jr Scouts and a few different chain guards. I tried making pre '38 Indian valve covers, what a job...easy to make look right, but hard to make fit right. I used to make all the missing brake parts for very early bicycles as well. That was much easier because the tolarences were not so touchy, just the right look.
