That's a killer piece of garage art if nothing else! What're the plans for it? Welcome to the HAMB. What the hey, there's motorsickles and minibikes, airplanes and shop tools on here and they all have their own forums? Betcha you won't find traditional hot rods over there?
Whew .. big praise for me there Tim !! Ha, yeah couple guys are hitting spot on with the guess's Its an old gas glass car , very cool ..Jim Thompson ran a opel Gasser too if memory serves Rod Shop seemed to be on many cars back in the day , nice find ..Very hard to put it in as a "as raced" condition cause it most likely changed many times due to rules switching often in that era I would not do much to it, get it running and leave it as is mostly My two cents
Here are a couple of pics of the Cuda taken by George Cureton. I'll even throw one in of the Challenger.
BOOSHIT, that thing's cool. I remember that team from back then. They had a very impressive team of cars. It's great to see these survivors. COOL COOL COOL!

Hi Dan, Will post some photos of the Willys after the New Year wears off. Stop down and take another look at the crappy Austin Rob won't sell you..HA!...HA!.. Thanks for the welcome !!!
Hey, cool car. I am not into cars because of the year of it, if the cars is cool I dig it and that a cool car.
I saw nearly all of the Rod Shop cars when I was a kid and my older brother took me to the races with him. I remember this cuda and the car before it that Jim Thompson drove. Somewhere I have a photo of the cuda, but it's buried somewhere. I think it was a black & white photo. Thompson had a '48 Anglia in C/Gas that held the record before he switched to this cuda in 1970. Then a year later is when they went to all Dodge. The Anglia had a small block chevy in it, but the cuda had a hemi. I'm not sure if they de-stroked the hemi to make the weight break for the class, or if the cuda had weight added to compensate for the larger displacement of the hemi as compared to the small block chevy. Maybe they had to do a little of both. Don't know how Thompson managed to drive that Anglia and keep it straight. Every time he shifted geas it would pull the front wheels off the pavement. I don't think the cuda drove like that.
We are planning on taking the Rod Shop cuda down to the National Trail Dragway on Sat. May 30. If any of you folks go to the show, stop by and say hello. Carey
Have you tried a Google search on the car ? Maybe search the track it raced at a lot . The race track would know the car . That is a One Bad Ass Cuda ! Great classic race cars come up on the forum quite often and find many great drivers finding their old drag cars this was too ! Keep us updated !
Almost the end of the end of May. Heard any word on who or which Rod Shop cars will be at the reunion at NTR?
Jim Thompson still lives in the central Ohio area. He now builds race boat motors, and does inspections for extened warranty companies. Jim drops in at the dealership I work at every once in a while. I'll ask him if he has any pictures of the car. My dad and Jim hung out together back in the day when Jim started the Rod Shop in Marion,Ohio before he moved the operation to Columbus with Gil Kirk.
