Eddie Cochran - Something else. Setzer covered it also.

    "What's all this!?!?
Never thought I'd do this before,
but here I am, I'm knocking on her door.
Car's out front and baby it's all mine,
    A 41 Ford, not a 59.
I got that girl and I'm a thinkin' to myself
'That girl's fine lookin' man, she's somethin' else.'"

Setzer - Who could really love this car but me.

    "It's got a leaky carburetor
    A rusted out floor
    Four broken windows
    Bullet holes in the door
    Torn up old seats
And the lock don't fit the key
Now baby who would really love this car but me? "

Just about every song that ever mentioned a car has been posted except this one..

Souped Up Ford - Rory Gallagher. Not hot rod in the true sense, it was written about a Ford that Muddy Waters gave him after he used it to tour the UK.. One of the best intros ever..

She began to cry when you said good bye and you slipped into your dreams.

This song is the story of my life, in oh so many ways that it used to scare me!

I sing it in clubs here in Asia.

  6. I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this one yet, but this video owns my soul--

And "Dust Devil" also by the Butthole Surfers.

And if we are speaking of hot rod music, then that would be most everything ever recorded by The Cramps.

  10. I can't believe no one's mentioned 'Get Outa My Dreams & Get into My Car' by Billy Ocean! That songs kicks ass!

    KIDDING!!!!!!:D

I have to agree (with everyone!) bout Hot Rod Lincoln, only my fave is the LIVE version by Commander Cody. Has to be LIVE for me. He put so many great versions of other's songs in it.
Also Dirt Track Date, Five-o-Ford, Jesus Built My Hotrod, Cruisin for a Bruisin, among so many otheres (most from back in the day -Maybeline, 409, Little Deuce Coupe, etc)!!!!
And thanks to Gumpa for the song list.:D

  17. Hot Rod Lincoln. I'm surprised so many favor the Commander Cody version.
I wonder if they've even heard the original (Charlie Ryan) or the later Johnny Bond well done arrangement.
CC's record was basically a cover of the original . A good effort, none the less
and a fun band to see live.

  22. The greatest of all hot rod and motorcycle songs, "Wheels" by the much overlooked Gram Parsons:

We've all got wheels to take ourselves away
We've got telephones to say what we can't say
We've all got higher and higher every day
Come on, wheels, take this boy away

    We're not afraid to ride
    We're not afraid to die
So come on, wheels, take me home today
Come on, wheels, take this boy away

We've all got wheels to take ourselves away
We've got telephones to say what we can't say
We've all got higher and higher every day
Come on, wheels, take this boy away

    We're not afraid to ride
    We're not afraid to die
So come on, wheels, take me home today
Come on, wheels, take this boy away
We've all got wheels to take ourselves away
We've got telephones to say what we can't say
We've all got higher and higher every day
Come on, wheels, take this boy away

    We're not afraid to ride
    We're not afraid to die
So come on, wheels, take me home today
Come on, wheels, take this boy away

"Cheater Slicks" by the Super Stocks. The full throttle launch at the end really sells it for me.
