My car is currently in primer. I had to buzz it back down because over winter some snow got in my garage and sat on the primer and it started to rust again in a few places. I still have some body work to do but I would like to drive it this summer and work some of the bugs out and pull it apart again over winter to finish the body work. I have rattle canned flat black some cars to flip, and although it doesnt look as good as a real paint job it helps keep the moisture out. I was wondering if I were to spray bomb this car for the summer if I would have to strip it all off before its final paint job or could I just knock it down a bit and paint over it? I know a lot of you are going to say finish the body work and then paint it but I really dont want to sit on the sidelines another summer.
Everytime I have tried to paint over spray paint I have had problems....lifting, wrinkling, fish eyes, etc....
Spraycan primer does not seal out moisture, only finish paint does that. I wouldn't spray anything over spraycan primer except more spraycan primer or spraycan finish paint.
Yep. IMO, nothing that comes out of a rattle can is good enough to put expensive paint and time on top.
