Back in the late 60s GREEN had a reputation that basically equaled BAD LUCK. So you didn't see many green cars at the drag strip, so to squelch that legend, Hubby special ordered a Frost Green 69 SS396 El Camino 375 horse four speed, shortly after taking delivery of the brand new truck, the motor is pulled, bored 60 over, a Sig Erson Cam installed and a set of hooker headers installed. No bad luck here (and sorry no pics), but a lot of the Wichita Street racers from that era will remember El Kabong terrorizing the streets.

I think that green looks cool on almost everything if it's the right shade.

Wasn't there a motorcycle cop and his two toned green Merc on the cover of the little Rod&Custom books in the late '50s?

I must know where you found that tri-carb set up. Seriously...I will lose sleep until I do. Please let me know. I have insomnia as it is.

The car's not quite ready for paint yet, but when she is, this is the plan.

  21. A lot of the early Ford flatheads and four-bangers came from the factory painted green.

Like Kermit The Frog said, "It ain't easy being green!"

  22. How popular was green back in the day?

I recall going to see the dirt trackers race at the old speedway near Stem, North Carolina in the '60s. A favorite driver there was "Farmer" John Matthews. His cars were always painted green despite the old warning that green was bad luck on a race car. But Farmer John reckoned that green was the color of money and green was the color of tobacco, so it couldn't be all bad.

    Do it.
