I just acquired A 1928 AA in pretty good shape. The doors close real soundly. However, It has had the rear diffy moved up to behind the cab, welded to the frame and the overhang cut off. 10.00 20's on the back, 7.50 20's on the front. My Uncle used it as a hunting "Bug". With tire chains, there wasn't many places where he couldn't go. The Truck is complete with the engine froze. My question is, Has anyone took the body off the frame and put it on a 4x4 frame? Possibly a S-10 or Ranger? I used to run my own body shop and twisted wrenches at dealerships. I've built a few street rods also. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Okay Fingers, I posted an intro. Can anyone give me any ideas on which truck to look for?

No kidding, I worked at a jeep dealership and we all pulled our hair out trying to figure out which manufacture built the particular one we were working on. Dodge, Ford, and GM all mixed together. UGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

Thanks Drags. I run off a hard copy of your findings. I'm pretty sure I can use some of it.

I'd be looking at Scout chassis with twin dana 44s and disc brakes, but it sounds like you're not into having to decode your parts down to the foundry shift mark to figure out which bearing to buy. Otherwise not a bulky and obtrusive frame and decent mechancials for a light/medium duty 4x4.

It snows here too. I totally sympathize and am seriously considering a similar deal for a barely-off topic vehicle. Good luck

Thanks Shifty. We used to have a few junk yards around here, but everyone started complaining and they all had to go. So I guess I'm looking for a whole truck from someones back yard. I'd kind of like to stay away from the electronic crap. Just give me a carb and a set of points and I'm good to go. I know I can fix it on the road.
