No ass kickin' here. My son bought a '77 Granada, at an auto auction where he worked part time, when he was a senior in high school. He's 22 now, and still has it. We've done a little to the 302, and he's added Centerlines, and a bunch of other stuff. He swears someone will inherit it!
1962 Cushman Eagle. Don't laugh. I used it to deliver the morning newspaper on my paper routes, seven days a week. It was good money. If I needed a car, the folks would let me use the 64 Dodge Dart, four door. I was pissed when Dad sold the 56 Chevy Bel Air convertible, 265 small block with Powerglide to buy himself a pickup.
1956 Plymouth Savoy Flathead six three speed overdrive. The car was as old as I was in 1973. I think my dad liked the car because the Flathead was 90 hp maybe? His reasoning was less trouble I could get into.
MB Smiley High School, Houston Texas, Class of 1960. The first car I owned was a 1955 Studebaker Champion Coupe, 3-speed OD, 4.10 rear gear, flat head 6-cylinder. My parents bought it for $600 in 1957 and I paid them back by 1962. In 1960, I rebuilt the engine and milled the head .060" and it would top end at 108 MPH in OD on the Gulf Freeway from Houston to Galveston. In 1962, I flipped the 55 Studebaker end over end at 70 MPH and I did not get a scratch. The same year, I bought a 1956 Chevrolet Del Ray 2-door sedan, 3-speed, 265 CI . A '56 Chevrolet Del Ray was apparently a very rare option because I have never seen another one since then. The Del Ray option included a full leather interior but the body and trim was the same as a '56 Chevrolet 210 . Washington Blvd. in Houston had thousands of used car lots with nice cars. My parents and my sister bought four cars there. In 1959, my older sister bought a 1957 Ford Police Interceptor, 2-door sedan, 312 CI engine, 4-bbl, 4.10 rear gear, and 3-speed OD. I picked it out for her because I knew I would be drag racing it.
A 1936 DeSoto Airstream 4-door sedan. How do you spell u-u-g-l-y? The car had just over 15,000 miles on it. The original owner had died in 1938 and his widow didn't have a driver's license. But she couldn't bear to part with the car. Her nephew was a friend of my parents and told us about the car. We paid $100 for it, I drove it for 4 years, and sold it for $275. A 1959 Impala red convertable. An odd car. Six cylinder three speed standard shift. Gray interior with rubber floor mats. The only option was a radio.
My first "cool" one was a '92 AWD Eagle Talon. I hopped that thing up (bigger turbo, front mounted intercooler, new injectors, boost cotroller, big ol' clutch, a Mustang's fuel pump, a modded the shifter to get more postive shifts, ported the wastegate housing to cut down on boost creep), and man, was it FAST... I managed to use lots of low budget parts, but it ran great. It was in gorgeous shape inside and out, I loved that car. A 4 wheel burnout is a thing of beauty (the license plate said "SPINALL4"), launching an AWD car will drive you back in the seat pretty well. Some drunk old women in a '90 Caddy blew a stop sign and just destroyed that car. That little car was a rocket ship, 20PSI of boost, that turbo SCREAMED. Replaced it with a '72 Mach 1, had it for a few years before I popped the motor feeding it too much nitrous. I had a '90 Talon AWD as a driver at the same time, but it was a POS compared to that '92. I HATE my daily driver, an '00 Navigator, other than the super nice sound system and DVD setup I put in it. Damn things fallin' apart, eats gas, warps rotors (I bought it as the "family car" when I was still with my son's mother). Whenever I get rid of it, I'm either gettin' me another DSM to daily drive (one of the early 90-94 models), but it'll have to be gorgeous inside and out, or a Bronco. Always wanted me a Bronco, I really like the early 90's ones... Yeah, an Eddie Bauer Bronco with a fuelie 351W, nice little lift, and a bit oversized tire. That's the ticket.
My first car was a 1967 Mustang GT convertible, then in my senior year I bought a 1970 340 Dart. I still own the dart (23 years later) and I am in the process of restoring it.
70 Dodge Challenger 383 4spd. 3.91 gears sold it in Ca. and had dreams about it for years. Still do. But you cant go back.

'65 Ford Galaxie with 352ci engine ... then a 390ci ... then another 352ci. This photo is just before I put the front bumper back on after painting metalic gold. Someday I may have to recreate this car ... it was a good one.
1970 Chevelle 454SS 4 speed.......hahahaha! Not really! Alot of you guys had such cool high school rides... I really liked mine though. Not really a HAMB truck but a '76 Chevy SWB. 350/350/12bolt w dual exhaust w glasspacks. Heated coils up front & only like 2 or 3 leaves in the rear dropped her down to bumpstop knockin' level on a set of "Gambler" wheels, 15x7's up front & the ever popular 15x10's in the back. Sweet truck, wish I still had it. The guy I sold it to still has it but won't sell it back to me! -John
Back in '55, I had a 32 Ford roadster. (Yup, sure did!) The military and other things got in the way, so naturally, I sold it.?? (gave it away) I had a flathead in it that measured 3-3/8 x 4-1/8, port & relieved, 2 97's, juice brakes, and went like a scared rabbit. Those were the days. Skolzie
55 chev bel-air 2 dr post. $150, then a 59 vette $1000. yes the vette was high dollar for a high school kid, but worked in a Vickers station to pay for it $1.50hr.
My Hi school ride was a '51 Chevy Fleetline with Corvette goodies on the 6 cyl and a converted 1/2 PU gear box for the floor shift. THe latest ride is a '51 Chevy Fleetline like I would have built it back then if I had the money. Reliving the youth, don't ya know.
'69 Chevy van. Mom called it my motel on wheels. Changed the sheets for me every Sunday night. I miss her.
1965 Plymouth Satellite 2 door hardtop. Wicked-built 440, 727, Dana 60 3.55 suregrip. Was stupid-fast for a high school kid. Only got beat once. Gorgeous bright red '63 Nova SS running around with no hood or windshield wipers (should've known better). Had a nasty 327 with a Muncie 4 speed. Only took me by half a car length though. Sure wish I would've kept that damn Plymouth.
1973 gran torino sport 351c 4v drag pack drove part of freshman year then rolled it. 1979 mustang pace car 302. 1968 ford half ton pickup 300 6cyl three on tree one wheel burnout machine. 1973 ss nova major pos. 1973 ranchero swaped everyting from torino. 1979 chevy stepside 396 and for speed. 4x4 1989 ford ranger lifted with 33s 4cyl 5spd could not get out of its own way but fun to jump. graduated in 1995.
My senior year I was styling. I had a 1964 Plymouth Savoy 2dr sedan. Ex Indiana State Police car. 383 ci with push button torque flite. The year was 1967.
