Maybe it's been covered but I searched and couldn't find it..........

    Are a 62 chevy truck 235 and a 62 car 235 the same?

    Thanks, Nick

Yes. The only difference I can think of is that the truck engine may have solid lifters, while the '62 car engine had hydraulics.

Truck most likely will have solid lifters ,otherwise same-o. But after near 50 years anything may have been swaped.

235's have some issues with hydraulic lifters- - - -some of them have a tendency to leak down and rattle, especially if the engine sits for awhile between runs, days or weeks, for instance. Once they pump back up and quit ticking, hydraulics take a lot less maintenance.

I've got a 235 solid lifter and I love it. It pulls strong and has no issues.
I drive it daily and it starts in the worst of weather. I would recommend getting the starter rebuilt before you proceed. Once I did that, all of my small issues went away.

If you can get your hands on the 261...that is the engine to get.
I think there is a blown one in the classifieds section on here...
Or a Jimmy 302 those are nice as well
