Well it has been a crazy year.... I used to update my life almost everyday on the hamb, but now I just don't get much time.....

I finally moved me and Laura out of the trailer park and into a real house.... hahaha
Moving on up! Just like the Jeffersons.
My house is a crazy Jetson's style ranch..... I'm pretty lucky to have found it.

Its been up and down dealing with the big move..... some days its great, some days its really hard.... Everyone in Austin is great, but I sure don't feel like a Texan yet. I don't think I ever will.

Music has been really great lately... It still remains the driving force in my life.... the new band is pretty fun..... Come see us at the round up!!!

Anyway, the shop. The reason I am here...... Its going well, but it's a roller coaster ride I could never have imagined... Basically its really hard. I have a ton on my plate and its crazy keeping it all straight..... I work all the time. Its a truly great opportunity, so I believe all the ups and downs are worth it..... I hope so anyway.

The guys at the shop are awesome. I can be a fucking angry bastard sometimes, and although there has been some rough times, I think we make a pretty good team. I am honored to work with all these guys and they all teach me something everyday. Even when they don't realize it.

The first several months I was here I was feeling it out and involved in finishing up a bunch of old projects..... over the past few months I have finally been able to do my own thing a bit. It feels good.

The first project is Whiteys frame. He is the kind of customer you dream of. He called and was like "Make me the coolest frame ever!" He told me to do all the stuff I was dreaming up for my own project and test it out on his..... I don't think either of us knew what we were getting into, but its turning out pretty neat.

Whitey is building a 1932 ford 5W.... He wants it to be a traditional channeled east coast styled drag coupe. So we decided to keep it pretty basic in front of the firewall and get a little creative from the firewall back.

I decided to section the rails two inches from the cowl back to give a little more space inside the car.... then I kicked up the rear four inches and made a crazy deco styled x member.

I've been working on it on and off for the last several months..... I am finally ready to show it off. This is by far the craziest thing I have ever made.... it has pushed my skills and ideas past where I thought they could go..... I still got a lot to learn, but I am pretty proud of this thing.

Thank you so much Whitey, This has been a great opportunity for me. You have set me free.

  10. Awesome work Bob, sounds and looks like the big move has paid off. That chassis is great, sectioning the rails was a neat trick. Can't wait to see it as a roller.

I may be the man taking this thing of beauty back to NC for Whitey if he needs it. I have been talking to Stefan for a couple months now on the phone and he truly is a free soul. I can't wait to see his car come together and tear the tires off the thing with his two Rotties sharing shotgun.

It's this kind of patronage that truly inspires next level type thinking. This frame that you have built Bob, is something that everyone will talk about (in good light) and is something that will charge us to get out in the garage and build something that will take our ride up a notch as you have done with Stefan's car. I now it's going to be rad and I can't wait to see it in person next week.

I sat and looked at the frame for a good 20 minutes and I still find details that I haven't
seen before... Bob you truly went all out on this frame and I'm glad you let your inner
SLAYER out on it... its amazing to see you reach this level in your craft... the frame you
built is ground breaking and will definatlly take you to the next level...

    Jade Idol Sucks tho..

Looks awesome, sectioning the frame under the body for more room is a great idea.

In all seriousness... and forgive me for being a little mushy here... But, Bob... I sure am proud to call you my pal and it has nothing to do with how talented you are on stage or in the shop.

I'm such an idiot. Angy and I were so concious of trying to get in and out of there quick today, I walked right by that frame. She really wanted to see the chop on Silva's coupe, or we wouldn't have butted in this close to the Roundup. Now I want to go back right now and drool on it!

  25. Wow ... that frame is a work of art! ... simply beautimous!

... and like I said in the "Silva Special II" thread:

Amazing stuff... frame, chops, music... all amazing.

What else we gotta do to make you feel like a Texan...?

  27. Bleed, you are my hero. If I was there I would give you a high five, even though you don't usually "high five".

hahahaha I totally am the Charlie Brown of Hot Rodding.... I have a rain cloud over my head..... the simplest things are impossible to me.... John has to not only manage the shop, but babysit my ass.....

I am in the middle of uploading all this stuff and got a call from my dad saying he's stuck on congress in his roadster I'm like no problem on the way.....so I go out to the van and my battery is dead...... fuck..... so the only thing that runs is the shitbox 32.. with no seat.... so I hop in and go to help my dad and one of the carb scoops flys off on Lamar.... then I pull in to the porn shop and run down the street to find it..... grabbed it before it got crushed..... then I went to push start my dad.... now all is well and I'm back at the shop..... Charlie fucking brown.....

I do have to say racing through South Austin in Hot rods with my dad in the middle of the night was pretty Kick Ass..... A day in the life.......

Franco's coupe was a different kind of challenge.... it was to be done in spare time and turned into a can of worms once we started.... We hammered through and got it done and in the end it's a really nice chop...... It took a long time as I was in the middle of moving, starting a new band, and having friends in town staying at my house just about every week since Christmas.

I appreciate Franco's patience and the artwork he has done for us.... he is an amazing guy. I am super happy he finally has his coupe back....
