I've always thought "The Redhead" was the sexiest car to ever run the salt. What I loved was the complete lack of straight lines, edges, or flat planes - it's ALL curves. So here's a photo retrospective I pulled off the landracing.com forum of the old girl - it's run with many motors, and is a genuine 300MPH racer. Long live "The Redhead"! http://picasaweb.google.com/montywolf/TheRedhead#
Such a cool photo thread. My son is building his cub scout pine wood derby car modeled after the Red Head. I let him have my dremmel and go for it. It sort of looks like it could be a mini version. Im going to have to help him with this one.
Hell yeah... I've always loved that car! Very cool that it was in the World's Fastest Indian movie, too. Malcolm
If you get a second kit you can make the wood cover the wheels like the real thing. Cut and glue the pieces to the sides. Just watch that you don't exceed the max width.
Yes, quite some time back. My guess is the frame cannot be updated to 21st century specs, (tubing sizes, adding a 3rd roll cage bar, etc. - the body won't come off)
