Sweet. My buddy and I went on a hunt quite a few years ago, what a rush to see in person. What a neat place, I continue to determine that I grew up in the wrong generation... My father ran a 1957 Chevrolet there in 1965.

Keep these old pics comin! A reunion show there would be awesome, but I doubt that track could ever be opened again. Looking at the aerial photos there are houses within a couple hundred feet of the track and you know they'd be bitchin about all the noise and that would be the end of it.

You can see how degraded the track is from the aerial views...

For those that know where it is www.maps.live.com has a decent birds eye view of the strip.

  6. A get together of Drag Lodge folks would be a great idea at GoodGuys Pocono Raceway. Count me in. It's only a few miles away maybe we could caravan over to the Drag Lodge?

So any news, I joined this message board just because of this thread, and am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting!! I still remember an Old gold dodge in my neighbors yard that I know was running down there. Time to dig thru the old photo's I guess...

  8. There's at least one more thread on this subject on the HAMB. I think we should set up a meet and greet at GG event and cruise on over to the Drag Lodge. Anyone have an idea of a good meeting place at Pocono raceway?

In the late 1960s we raced the local drag strips,Vargo's,Numedia,Great Meadows, and believe it or not Pocono International. We ran one time at Pocono Drag lodge.I rembember the gassers and the uphill shut-down area.We were racing a 1930 Huppmobile/302 hilborn injected sbc, coupe.Ahh those were the days:):).Now the only racing I do is to the bathroom:mad::mad:.Memmories,Phil

  14. There's been rumors for years about reopening the place. I doubt that will ever happen but Mr. Hulsizer sure is working hard at this on site reunion effort.

    Timmy,

Just went to post the same info. I talked to the seller. It had to be the same one, sans motor. If I recall correctly, it even had the orange pexiglass. I wanted it, but the economy strikes again!

The plexiglass was red ,it matched the red paint before we change to metal flake paint.Yes the car is in Bowmanstown, the owner called me to see if I was intersted in buying it back.It is vertully untoutched since it was sold in 1969.The engine and trans.were removed prior to selling it to him.Did it sell on ebay? if so do you rembember the price?Maybe I should have bought it buut it would have been difficult to get it road legal. It sure brings back memories. :):):)

  22. I live within a mile of the track. Would be happy to help with the reunion.

  26. Gassers on the line @ Pocono. Note chain link fence the only thing between me, a spectator, and the cars.
