Why is it that the saying when you have the time, you don't have the money and vice versa always hold true? Oddly enough 3 of the top 5 cars I'd looooove to own all appeared for sale today. Not only were they builders, but they were at reasonable prices. Prices I would pay for them, had I been looking. There's a million reasons why I shouldn't buy even 1 of the 3; no space, really shouldn't spend the money, haven't even begun of my first acquisition of one of the top 5, customers stuff, etc. But what if? I'd be that much closer to owning all of my top 5. Finding them is the first step right? They're not building any more of them. Just a mild rant that I have already talked myself out of, but it brings me to my quesiton. Any of you have this happen to you? Did you pull the trigger? What are your top 5? Me in no real order: 1. '49-'51 Ford (Already got one.) 2. '39-'40 Merc Coupe 3. '57 Olds 98 2 dr. Hrdtp 4. '49-'51 Merc Coupe 5. '55-'56 Crown Vic

1. 40 Ford Standard Coupe or 2 door Sedan (either one would be fine) 2. 32 Ford roadster 5W or 3W 3. Old hot rod from the 50's (I got that one already) 4. 56 Ford Crown vic 5. 57 Chevy Convertible Thats all I could think of right off the top of my head...Its kind of one of those questions like "pick your favorite child" A nice 40 standard 2 door sedan popped up for sale and I was CLOSE to buying it... but the once in a life time chance came up to buy my hot rod instead.
1956 Ford F100 - got it 1957 GMC 100 - got it 5 more I want! 1938 Chevy coupe 1953 Olds 88 hardtop 1936 Ford 5 window coupe 1966 GTO - this one a maybe but still note worthy 1941 Caddy right now the 57 Caddy juanski has up for sale. Nice shape! Nice job you Bastards. Oh wait that's 6...take out the one of your choice...
My #1 might be happening this weekend with a 30 Chevy Coupe The rest are in no particular order... #1) early 30's coupe #2) 33-4 Ford Pheaton #3) 41 Buick Convertible TAILDRAGGER #4) A/FX style altered wheelbase Pre 66 Nova(have BBC for that), 65 Coronet(need HEMI ouch$$$) or 65' Mustang 2+2(longnose like Gas Rhonda).... One of these, and soon. #5) 37-42 Willys Sedan gasser(I know a sedan but they're cool too ) The Crown Vics are a neat car. I practically grew up in the back seat of my dad's spring order Mountain Green/White 55' Crown. Loved the interior of that car and the sound of that Yblock thru a pair of mellowtones... I miss that car but still see it at the local cruises once in a while.
OK, I'll play... '60 Ford Starliner '49 Mercury '56Ford Victoria '57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser '55 Thunderbird
Put me down for: #1 * 1985 Toyota Camry #2 *1983 Yugo #3 * 1976 Checker Funny Car #4 * 1989 Massey Ferguson gull wing coupe #5 * 1936 Saturn four door
No top 5, but it always seems weird to me, that when the money is there the car isn't...and when the car is...vice versa. Time? That never factors in until AFTER the car is here.
So now I've been talkin with the guy who owns one of the cars. I may have talked myself back into it slightly. My rationality is I may never come across one of these that I can afford. Or will I? I'm no where near the end of my car career, maybe play it safe and wait til the time is right? Or buy it and pick up the pieces later?
fuck it.. buy it bro, you only live once and you can't take it with you. think about this, your broke? probably always gonna be? so buy it while you can... buy it so you don't ever have to be seen in a honda ever again
Lol. I'll have something for you next year. We'll see what happens. You guys gonna put me up for the night when I come get it seeing as its in SC?
I thought it was just me that had luck like that. I'm looking for a driver right now and can't find exactly what I want. But as soon as I spend some of the money I have saved up on something else something I want will pop up and I'll be short the exact amount of money that I just spent.
Fuck, I don't have a top 5....Just a top 1. 1: 1958 Plymouth Fury Fins, along with huge cans, make me drool.
This is a timely thread. I was picking up pieces here and there to build a '28-29 model a roadster. Then, a done one popped up. Running, driving. Just needs paint and interior. I decided to pull the trigger on it and buy it for just the reasons hotdamn mentioned above. Ya only go 'round once!
Buy what you can afford today, If you can find one in better shape later you can always upgrade. At least you'l have one of the cars you want.
I seem to have a problem with having a top 500 not a top 5 but here goes (no particular order) 1. 32' cheverolet 3 window coupe 2. 52-54 chevrolet or ford coupe 3. 49-51 mercury coupe 4. 37 chevy coupe 5. 59' cadillac
1. '29 Model A sedan delivery 2. '46/47 Merc M1 panel truck 3. K/KB panel wagon 4. '51 Pontiac business coupe 5. '58 Mercury super marauder. Any of these I find in the ads, ebay, craigslist, etc...are all done and way too expensive. Really hard to find any of these in an original-need-restore- state. If I didn't already have enough projects, I'd buy one even if I didn't have the money. Regret hurts more than an empty pocketbook. And if any '64 Dodge max wedge comes along, I couldn't refuse.
1. 57 (or any 53-67) Corvette 2. 55 Chevy (gasser style) 3. 32 Chevy or Ford Coupe (window count not important) 4. 66 Chevy II (I bought a raw shell about 2 weeks ago) 5. 67-69 Chevy Pick-up to make a dually out of Plus a Track-T or an 'A' Roadster (or Coupe) would substitute well for almost any of the above....... Al (semi-traditional) in CT [edit] O'yeah and a Belly Tank
1. 40 willys 2. 41 willys 3. 54 or early 55 chevy p/u 4. 46-48 ford coupe 5. A flat black rat rod w/ spider webs, Iron crosses, red wheels, a tractor grill, with pomade stains on the seat
