So, I just got my first rat rod...1930 Model A chopped with motor and trans. but mainly just a rolling chassis and a body shell. I know I need some experienced help. My body needs a firewall since there is none. Is this an easy part to get? Can I make my own or is it better to get an original? Look for me on the board asking questions. Thanks in advance.:D

    Haha!

Koob, 30 31 firewalls are preety common. Keep an eye out you'll find one. I'd just make an original fit instead of fabbin one. Get some detailed pics of that car on here so you can get some constructive criticism. It can help speed things along for you. And be prepared for some guys to make comments that seem jerkish or harsh. They'll go easier if you have a thick skin and stay focused on gettin that car on the road. Good luck. Bring it to Austin sometime.

I see potential for it to become a hot rod. But that's just me. Welcome!

  23. Looks to me that you have the makin's for a nice "street rod". Watch what you sa.., I mean type and you'll get along fine. Some of these guy's have been stuck inside for several months. btw, Welcome to the H.A.M.B. :)

  24. If it's a rat rod, crush it and sell it for scrap. If it's your base to build a hot rod, show some pictures, add some ideas YOU have for finishing it and get some opinions.

Looks like a nice start. As far as a firewall goes you should probably just build a flat one out of 1/8" steel w/a 1" or so band welded around the outer edge from the inside so you can overlay a piece of aluminum or polished stainless. That's what I did. Just take time to make your template and get the cowl square too.
