Hey guys - yone run a boat intake on their car or know if I'd run into any real problems running a old boat intake ( 4 strombergs ) in a car motor other than adding choke to carburation? lacking heat riser????? anyway to bypass?? thanks !
Had a friend back in the day with a '65 Pontiac Lemans 326 two barrel. He wanted a four barrel on it and got a "good deal" on one from a boat. he drove it about one mile after install, the carb was tipped at such an angle that it flooded out from the moment you hit the key!!!
as 302gmc and belchfire8 have suggested, it may or may not work....you better post some pictures. i used to be partners on a 1967 Lewis boat with a 327 chevy and it had a screwy intake
As noted, some boat intake manifolds have the carb bases cast at an angle and others use an angle adapter. If the angle is cast in, there may be enough material to mill the intake flat or you could make some angle carb adapters to get the carbs to level on your engine.
That should work fine, looks like a cold "competition" style manifold for a race car that ended up on a boat.
