Here as of late every motor I see is painted gold. What's up with this is there something to this or just preference.
Engines used to be painted the colors of the rainbow and all variations of same. Then the trend was black, then silver, then red, orange, then yellow, and so it goes throughout the decades.
I like slim green my self. I think out side the box. and yes Gold is to new flat black it would seem.
As of Late ???? Ive had a Gold Pontiac 389 in my F-100 for almost 15 years .. Some of us ask a similair questions, "HOW COME THERE ARE SO MANY WAR ERA & EARLY '50s HOT RODS WITH SMALL BLOCK CHEVYS ??" "WHY IS THE WHEELBASE SO DAMN LONG ?" "WHY IS IT 'Zed' FRONT & REAR ?" "WHY ARE THE REAR TIRES HIGHER THAN THE ROOF ?" I would guess its all personal preference ...
Probably because it's the only color that you can paint an engine that will allow it to be 'showy' and classy at the same time. I might just vomit on the next hideous ORANGE small Chevy I come across. Red and yellow might actually be worse. I don't care who I offend, hahahaaa... I have a gold engine and you can't hurt me.
i WUZ gunna paint my USRE (universal street rod engine) Ford blue to disguise it but I don't think that will work.
Everyone was doing black. A new color had to come up. Its the whole fad gay bubble again. Sadly someone painted my 8ba in my truck chevy orange Need to repaint it just to lazy. They did such a half assed job thhey left the spark plugs in and painted them completely orange and never changed them.
My 55 Lincoln engine was gold (and green) stock, so I will be able to paint it gold without fear of looking like a "trendy dude"...
That's why I used it. I was low on crank and I so when I went to the supply store and picked up 4 cans of gold paint. Anyhow, I could only huff 3 so I had to do something with the rest. Bam!!! Valve covers Gold! Of course I ended up waking up in an alley wearing cut off jean shorts and sweating like a pig. I was pleasantly pleased with how the valve covers turned out.
Dave Stuckey used to paint his engines gold in the 60's also Cushenbery painted the Dream rods motor gold in 63
i guess i didnt know gold was so in style, i just thought it would look good. i do like 'wide rear tires are they next? later 60s era stuff lots a chrome, pearl white interior etc... cause if thats next im way ahead of most everyone.
Well hell there goes my paint idea. I'm behind the fad before I knew there was one! Saw a nice nailhead somewhere on the net for sale-all chrome, polished alum. and gold. Liked it a lot and thought that would look good in the Riv. So now what?
I have a 390 in my Merc so tell me why gold is wrong again? ( Okay it's actually black but the covers are gold!)
