thought i would post some of my photography work i have been doing. i need opinions. never really showed any before. thanks.
Decent pics. I like the composition and flow on the first one (buick shoot 033). It's probably the best of the bunch. The second one (artistic cars5) could benefit from a different angle or some photoshop work to get that post away from the front of the car. I would do a tighter crop on the third one (artistic cars6) and use the pole as the left border, but it's still a nice shot. I'm sure you're aware that the next one should have shown the entire car, and maybe use the pole as the right border. Nice shot on black and white1, but I'm distracted by the reflection in the back window. The last one is quite good, but suffers from a bit of blowout at the roofline. All in all, a nice group of shots. Keep at it!
thanks everyone. i appreciate the criticism and good ideas. i guess i should have mentioned that the buick in the first shot is mine. and all these shots were done without adobe photo shop. thanks again.
Great shots!! The Buick wagon shot is absolutely sublime....love it! As a student of the art too, all I can say is that there is no substitute for practice. I like you am staying away from Photoshop.....don't even own the program. I adjust slightly in the primitive ACDSee photo manager, but as an old guy once told me....real photographers shoot pure.
"...real photographers shoot pure." Ansel Adams, considered a "real photographer" by almost everyone, did massive adjustments in the darkroom. Today's equivalent is PhotoShop and the best photographers will use it to their advantage. Keep shooting and let's see some more. You have a good eye for composition.
well since you need opinions here's mine. I like the wagon and the 57. the pontiac has a pole in front of it, and should be larger in the photo...unless you were focused on the electrical meter on the side of the building. you cut the front off the car with the fire hydrant in the picture. and the telephone pole should not be in the picture either. the 48's a cool picture but the 50 is lacking.
Missed a few of the comments. Photoshop is a tool. Thats all. Not really sure what some of these folks are talking about. I just attended a Digital photography workshop and there were over 600 people in attendance. They were all professional photographers and they ALL use Photoshop for retouching and color correction. We all use some sort of tools to get the JOB done whether its a car or a photograph.
This is quite true. Also true is the fact that Ansel Adams literally spent hours setting up equipment and waiting for exactly the right moment to get just one shot. I once attended a commercial photography seminar in which the overriding theme was to get it right in the camera. The less post processing necessary, the better. There is a tendency by many these days to use Photoshop as a crutch for poor shooting skills, as in "I can always fix it in Photoshop." The photos you've posted here all show some talent and a good eye for composition. Keep shooting.
Very true! I worked as a Digital Imaging Specialist (photoshop whore) at a publishing co for 9 years and fixed MANY terrible photos that ended up on covers thus making the photographer's work look better... but when an art director asks "can you try to..." "yes" -always.
There is a tendency by many these days to use Photoshop as a crutch for poor shooting skills, as in "I can always fix it in Photoshop." that's funny.
Nice shots. Can't hurt having the beautiful Colorado countryside either. Post these on this Friday's art show.
xactly-fotoshop is a tool.w/35mm film(if u didn't dvelope it urself) u dropped it off at the "photo-processor" aka:walgreens, photomat, skrudland, etc. and then they developed and processed it. aka:color and contrast correction, etc. just what photoshop should b used for. if u think ur fotos look good now just wait 'til u 'shop them- it would help w/the color saturation u have in some of those fotos. Yes,i practice composing a shot, adjusting shutter and f-stops,white balance, etc.,but i also use a basic 'shop program too. And who the hell wouldn't have taken that nice shiny hub cap?!
xpletiv, I really have a hard time understanding what you type. I know I am old, and you are young, but you violate everything I have learned about spelling, punctuation, and constructing sentences. You obviously know photography, and Photoshop. Sorry.
