Greetings from BC Canada. I started with a slightly customized 47 Monarch coupe with an Olds engine which, by the way, I would really like to find again. I traded it for a '57 Chevy 2-door wagon to run in E/MP. I spent much of the next few years ducking shrapnel as I learned a little about building small block chevys. From here I got into a '51 Prefect called "Compulsion", which explains the clever pseudonym used here. After a number of years two things became obvious; first I was never going to set the E/G record and second, bracket racing (socialistic drag racing, as a buddy calls it) was taking over the sport. I put the Prefect to pasture and got into a C/Fuel dragster. I set the AHRA record and sold the car to a couple in Spokane. I think Bucky Austin has it now but, I'm not sure. In 2000 I resurrected the Prefect, completely restored it and installed a not quite stock 454. My son and I now run it in Kelowna and Ascroft. I am now trying to build a '35 Dodge 4-door street rod.
Welcome!....I have actually met you and seen the prefect....love that car! These guys will want to hear more about it and see any old drag race pics you have. Maybe see you around town....Jethro
