I had a Doodlebug with a 3 1/2 hp brigs, ran a chrome exhaust pipe from electrolux vac. Over-rode the gov. with a string and a small shifter on the frame, had the seat done in blue metalflake, this was about 65', I was 11, all the girls wanted a ride, it was good stuff, especially the older teenage girls. Wow, good mamaries. Anyone have any pics of the Doodlebugs?

 

Have to get mine ready for the Thaw and LSR.

 

Mines ready for the Thaw. Now I have to take it back apart to get it in the trunk.

 

Man, this is a fun thread to look through. Every time I go to a swap meet I want to get one. Maybe soon.

This mini bike is a MTD- Columbia looks like a 603-2 but has a Briggs engine and it should be a Tecumseh with a lighting coil a HS-40 4HP . Should be a good riding mini with that leading link front end.

I think its a cushman Eagle? The way the rear structure is swooped is what makes me think thats what it is.

That is a 1953 cycle-scoot. they built one year only for the Indy 500

 

That is damn cool. Some plumber is looking for that escutcheon plate on the intake!

 

OH THAT IS EXCELLENT NEWS!!! We don't want them to ingest lead... now with all that free time not riding motorbikes they can go downtown hang out and score some crack.... I guess Canada ( Ontario specifically) will be next.

Just picked this one up for my roommate. She's been wanting a Vespa for a while but saw this and had to have it. It's not the easiest to find parts for, but I'm doing what I can to get it running right now. She already found a seat and has paint picked out for it.

 

Just picked up a mini bike from a Friend, I think I'm going to get it going and join a circus, ever see a 260# guy on a mini bike? Would you pay?

 

Thanks! It is and is isnt. You can adjust the chain to either sprocket but not on the fly. Its not really nessesary anyway since the ratios are pretty close. I just thought it would work well since they were bicycle sprokets already riveted together and stronger like that and also so id have a little bit of options on the ratio. But it flys even with the little 3hp motor. We clocked it at 38mph. I recently made the higher seat and fat front tire. You can see in this pic how i had it before with that seating position it was a bit cramped

just scored a 65? trailhorse rolling frame for $50 from the local go cart parts shop. i put on a running 2 cycle side shaft engine that i got for free
and im gonna post a pic it is the gto 800 model

 

Here is a Before & After shot of my '67-'68 Bonanza BC1300.
Just finished her up a few weeks ago. My pop had her back when
I was a young pup. He toasted the cent.clutch and never fixed it.
She sat in my grandfathers barn under feedbags and crap for
decades. She is mostly original except for the engine, grips,
cables and other bits.

I have a '65 Honda S90 that I am in slow restoration of. I love that bike and had to have one to use to get around Elkhart Lake racetrack with when I'm up there.

I've always wanted to find and restore a DOODLE BUG (my father had one as a child):



There were 40,000 Doodle Bugs manufactured from the spring of 1946 through
the fall of 1948 by Beam Mfg. of Webster City, Iowa. They were produced in
four runs of 10,000 each. The first production consisted of Standard Models A
(Briggs & Stratton) and B (Clinton). Only 750 to 1,000 of the first production
were the Model B, making it the rarest of all Doodle Bugs. All Doodle Bug motor
scooters had kick-start engines and were painted red from the factory. The only
accessories available were three headlight/taillight kits which consisted of:

1) Bendix headlight generator with a Do-Ray taillight for B & S only;
2) Do-Ray headlight and taillight with a 6-volt battery which would fit all scooters;
3) Make-A-Lite headlight and taillight with a 6-volt battery which would fit all scooters.

In addition, there was one Delta brake light kit that used a type D battery.
