Here are some pics of a new bonneville car we are skinning. Should be done in 2 weeks. Plans are to shake it down at Maxton in June then turn it around for Bonneville Speedweek in August.

    Good Luck with the racemobile.
I suggest that you read the book carefully in order to pass tech without issues..
Which class or classes are you going for?

Very nice metalwork! Looks like it'll be in the lakester classes?

  4. Looks like a rear engine modified roadster.--lookin' Good !
It's a good plan to do Maxton first. It will make tech inspection at Bonneville a little smoother if they see some Maxton action in the log book. Make sure the body meets original dimensions!

Thanks for all the input on rules and stuff. We are in the fortunate position of only having to make the body. The guys who are building the car are the ones who have to worry about passing tech. We did get a body measurement sheet from scta to make sure we were staying legal on the body. It is a rear engine modified roadster. Don't know engine size yet but it will burn gasoline. The guy who is driving the car prefers to sit more upright and since he is paying the bills he is getting it the way he wants.

Is this the new car Vic is working on?

Driver comfort is very important but you'd a thought he would recline a bit....

Ours is ~45 degrees. He's very comfortable.

It will have some type of hood scoop this year.

Nice looking car you guys are building though. AA, A, or B?

FYI you can still run fuel class if using gas.
Some fuel classes have a lower record to beat.

Hi Mike - He is at about 45*. Before we final welded the upper cage, I put the driver/owner in it and he decided to keep the cage as tall as it shows; he said " we can always lower it, can't we?" Yep. (Also, the customer is always right...) Engine is a de-stroked Hendrick SB2.2 for D Gas being built by Keith Dorton at Automotive Specialists. vic

Owner wants a red hat which reqires at least a 225 mph record. The class record is 187 mph I think he said.

I was wrong on motor size. The guy responsible for the build explains the motor deal in one of his posts above.

Wouldnt have been a bad idea to get the rule book first before building the car. Very nice work !

maybe you can elaborate how, by looking at these pictures, you've determined that they built the car without referring to the rule book?

I'd be interested, too, as I've read that F%#@*&^ book a few hundred thousand times while making sure I'm doing things right. BTW, Kenny, what have you got in your lineup for a rear-engined dragster-type scoop? Iguess I'll have to come by the shop next week. vic
