I call my car exactly what it is, a Hot Rod!

 

Nobody says the "R" word around here.

 

Yeah, I heard that about the "R" word...

 

To me Rat Rod is a term that refers to those pieces of shit that you see that are completely unsafe and hacked together. 99.9% of the cars on the HAMB are Hot Rods. Your car looks to be a Hot Rod.

Rat rods are more like rolling "art" or an excuse to drive a piece of crap.

 

It's either a Hot Rod or Custom for the most part. Breaking it down into Altereds, AFX, Gas Class, Bellflower, Bombs, Prewar, Immediate Postwar, Late 50's Early 60's, Mid 60's, FED, Mild Custom, Westergard Custom, Tail dragger, blah blah blah!!!

Hot Rod or Custom for the most part like I said.

I think the car looks like great start. Little things like a bit of engine set back the Reverse Rake stance with the whole thing up in the air a bit more (not so low), Big early Hot Rod Power plant and proper exhaust and perhaps some splindle mounts people will crawl right up your ass they will be so excited.

Build it how ever make you excited but people are going to tell you their opinion regardless.

Honestly, who cares? People will know what it is just by looking at it. If they don't, then it doesn't matter anyhow.

Well your right it is getting my 354 hemi installed next week, with lakester exhaust. should turn a few heads, just as long as I dig it...

 

I told a guy at a car show last fall that I liked his "rat rod". I didn't know it was a bad word at the time. He directed me to the HAMB. I was cured shortly thereafter of my ignorance.

Although imho his car would still qualify as a rat, it had rust holes the size of softballs in it and was welded together with 1/2 filler rod by the looks of it.

 

What I see in the pic is a project in the early stages of progress. Hard to say what it's going to end up like, but it does appear to be following the extreme channel fad of recent years.

Rat or budget? why would you even ask that question knowing the response. Unless you are just looking to stir another pot...GHOST

 

It's just an old car. Drive it. That's what it was built for. Who gives a shit what people call it.

imo the whole terminology thing is a bunch of bull shit. i could really give two shits if some unknowing car enthusiast called my hot rod a rat rod. i know what they mean.
