I purchased a couple pairs of winfield carbs today and one had a tag saying from Wes Cooper, and one with a tag saying from Leon Atwood. I gather Wes Cooper was a major player in race cars but can't find anything on good ole Leon. They are what I would call siamesed carbs where they share a common fuel block and linkage. I might have to build a car around these carbs, ha. Thanks.
There was a Miles/Atwood racing plane. Leon is mentioned towards the middle & end of article. Maybe- but I may be way off to. http://www.sbcity.org/about/history/lee_miles_san_bernardinos_resident_pilot.asp
Here's dry lakes hall of famer Wes Cooper http://www.streetrodderweb.com/tech/0209sr_four_banger_then_and_now/index.html http://www.oilstick.com/drylakeshallof famegasup/halloffamemembers.htm
Tex Smith "Hot Rod History" book 1 the beginnings has some good picture's and stories about Wes Cooper.
There are four carbs there set up to run together as pairs with the original widgets from the factory. These weren't cheap by any means but some shit you gotta buy when it's there regardless of the cost because you may only get one chance to go for it.
There was a Flathead V8 Intake that took a Dual-Winfield downdraft carb like this. Verty early Flathead Intake. Don't recall the maker.
