This used car lot here in Columbus has this sitting on it a 1940 Lincoln Zepher V-12 coupe, it has Maine plates on it. The body looks rough but its all there, I could not get the hood open but I could get a peak of the V-12 through the grill. They are going to put it in HEMMINGS for $10 grand. Imagine this as a taildragger..

Won't last long at that price either ! Body has some rough edges but if you were in Maine that many winters , you would look like that too ! Those long , sweeping tail sections is what makes that car !
Would look super kool at about 3" off the ground going down the road !

Wow, never know what you find by chance. The body looks pretty scary to me with all of the rust through. Wonder what is hidden under paint job? Just fill it all in with a few hundred pounds of bondo and that will make it into a real tail dragger.

wow. our car lots are packed full of SUV's and trucks noone wanted when gas prices peaked. i guess a thristy v12 is the same as a suburban when it hits the pumps.

badass find...but like a drunk chick at last call you really should have a good idea whats under that first layer before you try and seal a deal.

10K actually seems pretty cheap for that car, those Lincolns don't come cheap, and this one has all of it's trim and parts. It needs some metal work, sure, but this car isn't even close to what I call "rusty".

I love that "Teardrop" fluid shape on these. Does anybody hop-up the V12's? I drove a stock '47 once, it was pretty slow.

  13. NICE ASS !

If I were to put some little spindle mounts on the front, some BIG meats out back, set the motor back a few inches. I Could Letter that up with
    G"ASSER" on the doors.

    That thing is sexy !!!

  14. Aw hell man, you only live once.

I say pull the trigger if you have the chance.

Wow that's not something you see everyday!

I'd proabably be dumb enough to buy it. I'm sure it's a fright underneath that paint but man it looks complete.

I don't care what wrong with it, it can be fixed. It's just money, if you don't have enough, someone else will. When your done you wouldn't have another '32 roadster that's for sure.

Yes the metal was pretty thin. Isn't this the body that the fiberglass "SCRAPE" cars are based on?

  22. 10 grand is pretty steep for a 40 coupe in that shape IMO.

If it was a 37-39, it'd be worth it all day long. 37-39 Zephyrs are a much better design, nice lines, shorter roof height, and that beautiful taper to the rear bumper. Lincoln made a lot of changes in 40, and none for the better in my opinion.

  23. 39 IS the pinnacle of Deco design imo.....but I would rather have a 40 LZ than a 40 Ford....DECO MAN all the way !!

Nice find, theyre hard to find in complete condition.

I wonder what this was replaced with.....makes me wanna barf....

Thanks and I will try to get up there sunday,I was thinking on seeing if they would trade it for my 65 country squire but looking at the pics its a little more rough then I can handle and I can get in and go any where in my wagon so I will keep it. To the right person it might be worth 10 grand but I would not go over 3500 unless it can be driven and it has brakes

That car is beautiful, i'd bet it is the original paint. Compare that to a 40 ford standard and you'll see what some serious customizer/designers can do. What a car! At 10K it is an absolute steal a year from now it will be a headliner on the thread about 'the one that got away' here on the HAMB.
