Cats and curiosity. The GMC 1 ton van sits off to the side of the house until needed and also seconds for tool storage. Was working out of the back with the doors open and the neighbor cat snuck in. About a week after locking it up, I noticed the sun shade was down. That being unusual, a closer look revealed a cat peering out the window. That was one happy feline when I opened the door but the smell wasn't happy Any good destinker ideas My dogs get skunked occasionally and a groomer told me womans douch works good for that. Maybe I need to douch the van
Vinegar wont work on urine. The urine is amonia based, so the only thing that will break it down is enzymes. Any good sized pet store will sell a product called pee-b-gone. Works great. Follow it up with a lot of febreeze and you should be fine. BTW, I had a simmilar expirence in my box truck years ago. Delivered some furniture to a customers house, and their damn curious cat climed in the box and got locked in there. At the next delivery, that little sucker shot outa there like a bottle rocket I called the previous customer, and sure enough, their cat was MIA... They had to drive across town to where I was to search for the lost feline. Fortunately a happy ending.
And a can off coffee. Been suggested here many times. Open the can amd leave in the truck. will help mask and soak up the smell. Charcoal has also been mentioned. Real stuff, not the EZ light with chemicals
Anti Icky Poo...stupid name, amazing product. I have a special needs cat that has accidents and I've tried everything. This is the only thing that really works.
Are you sure it was curiosity? So, does curiosity really kill cats? Did it start with the cat's curiosity or did he catch it from the dog? Just how much curiosity does it take to kill a cat? Whose cat was it? How long does it usually take? Do all cats take the same amount of curiosity to kill them? Is it just cats? Any dogs die from curiosity too? Do people die from curiosity? How does it start? Do they get stuck in an endless loop of questions they can't answer? What does a cat look like when it gets too curious? Are there any warning symptoms? How can I keep my cat from developing the same troubles? Is it catching? Is it hard to catch or easy to catch? Can you catch it from reading about it? How do I stop it if I think it is starting? How widespread is this? Have they ever found any known carriers? How is it spread? I really need to know.
Nature's Miracle - red and white bottle - is available at Petsmart and Petco. It's an enzymatic cleaner that gets all manner of bodily fluids out of carpet and cloth. It was the only thing that worked when our 175lb Irish Wolfhound caught giardia. I will leave it to your imagination to conjure images of the amount of damage a giant-breed dog with projectile diarrhea can do, but Nature's Miracle handled it. It even works on messes our kids make!
A cat sprayed the back porch of an apartment I lived in... god damn nothing worked to get rid of the funk it left behind. Bleach just made it worse, it finally went away after a few months. + =
Could always put a big dog in there for a week with some water, that should get rid of the cat pee smell!
NONAME has a product called S.O.S. he uses when his cat pissis in his shoe, hahaha, and it works great when dogs get hit by the skunks , I think its less then $10 , I used it at the ford dealer I used to work for to get cigar smell out of used cars , worked better then the professional $350 job they tried twice. edsel
what a pisser of a thread. ive accidently locked the cats in the shed overnight and the mess stinks for about a week after cleaning it up but the first thing you want to do is thouroughly wash anything metal that the cats pissed on, i had major hassles with cats piss when i had my car in bare metal with rust starting to etch instantly, i also had a glove box door that was chromed and i didnt spot the piss straight away and it ate through the chrome. i would hate to smell your van after a week, i am a detailer and to get rid of smells we just clean the shit out of everything, then store the cars as long as possible in the basement with the windows down, airflow and time is the best i have come up with once all is cleaned up.
We have five cats in our house. A product you can get at Petsmart and Petco is Nature's Miracle. Nature's Miracle is an enzyme-based cleaner. We had to use it on a brand new mattress and it worked beautifully after a couple of applications. See here: http://www.naturemakesitwork.com/home/index.php
Another vote for natures Miracle. When I met my wife she had a cat that absolutely hated me. I tried to make friends with it but she could not stand even my presence. She would pee on anything that was mine and she would pee when I would feed her. Needless to say the cat has a new owner but I spent alot of tie cleaning cat piss. I have a very sensitve nose and I tried everything. I gave natures miracle a try and I took care of the problem. Very good stuff.
The coffee trick sounds good. That van is big and don't know exactly where the originating smell deposits are located. Will wipe down everything possible with Natures Miracle and then the coffee. I havn't seen the cat since - I wonder if it would ever get back in the van?
I like the coffee idea, Our dogs have had a few run ins with the black and white kitties and a couple of years ago the vet gave us a home brew that is 50/50 water and peroxide with a little ivory dish soap, works like a charm and odor gone. Bet the cat quits coming to your place for a visit.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to kill the critter; well at least now I'm glad I didn't. My neighbor, (who I get along with which is important when you are a car addict) doesn't believe in neturing or cats in the house so there are several survivors hanging around outside. Survivors in that there are some that know how to outsmart the coyotes. The good thing is that they keep the gopher population down, so the more the merrier - but it would be nice if they didn't go around marking their territory.
HAHAHAHAHA exactly! I hate cats! Don't get me wrong though, I would never intentionally be cruel to an animal. The only animals I kill are the ones I eat. Besides, cats probably taste bad.
ive tried the small bag of charcoal left open and its actually pretty effective. although i was using a bag to get cigarette smell out of a truck. you could just take everything thats fabric out and pressure wash it. then let it air dry.
Don't use any water on clothe to remove it, it only spreads it further. Emzyme products do the trick, charcoal also will help. We had a back seat get pissed on and had a pro come in to remove it with a fogging device, it 2 times before it was effective, No-oder was the outfit..
