I am building a 66 F250 for my work truck, all the mechanicals are done and I will put some paint on it this summer and hope to have it back on the road this fall or next spring,I put a 460 and C-6 in it and I think it will get better gas mileage then the original 352/4 speed and I did take the 4.10 gears out and put 3.54s in.
Not a real truck, but I use it like one, rides better that truck and gets 22 mpg. Mikey www.MikeysPinstriping.com
26 mpg and 4x4 I use this if I need to town something heavy with my trailer. it is a 1 ton 4x4 and gets 10 mpg so it sits in the driveway most of the time.
1973 g.m.c. 1/2 ton. "The Mean Bean" just now running up on 100,000. everything works. it is bitchin.
Just retired my 87 Suburban 3/4 ton 2wd, was a great hauler, might get some new springs for it and fix a few odds and ends, might sell it. Replaced it with 2 90s Chevy trucks, a 1 ton and a half ton. The 1 ton is tough, 2500 series but essentially a 1 ton (HD 8600lb axles) yadi yadi, doing some brakes and odds and ends in it, even got an ipod hookup! Haha.
69 international car hauler for the big stuff, 62 chevy k20 twin piston flatbed dump and last an 85 w250 dodge 4x4 with a 340
1979 F-250 (400ci) I'd rather have a Chevy but this thing is reliable, it was cheap and people around here like Fords. Lousy on gas...
I took the back seat out of my Volvo and made it an Okie pickup. I also have a half-a-Datsun pickup trailer. I can't haul anything much in the trailer if there is any hills involved.
I guess this is my "work" truck. It's what I drive if I gotta go pick up motors/parts/Model A bodies, etc.....
1976 GMC 3/4 ton, 2WD, 454, Turbo400 tranny, dual fuel tank, has California smog air pump but no cad converter (heavy duty). When I bought this truck from the widow whos husband ordered it from the dealer brand new it was like going through a job interview. The guy before me that wanted to buy it said he was going to use it for concrete work she said no and move on (tough old gal). What I like about these old GM trucks is you can work on it without going to the repair shop and handing the tech $100 bucks to "put it on the scope" to tell you what might be wrong with it. She's a keeper.
1997 Ford F-250 Turbo Diesel. About 260,000 on it and I would not hesitate to haul a car to Cali and back tomorrow. Always starts and pulls anything I throw at it without even trying hard with ice cold AC. Plus I've added my favorite little add on. A set of triple train horns with an onboard compressor and a 30 gallon air tank mounted to the frame!! Scares the crap out of people that pull in front of me when I'm hauling a load. Pretty enough where I'm not ashamed to drive it, but banged up enough where I'm not afraid to work it.
03 Dodge 4 dr cab short bed Hemi w/ a Vortech Super charger. Its lowered, air bag rear so I can still haul loads and tow.
