Mine was a 283 that needed rebuilding cause it was full of water. Built it up and replaced the 235-6 that came in my '57. Couldn't blow that thing up:D. Ended up pulling it out and selling it!

Holley 750 double pumper. It went on a stock SBC and ran like crap (for the obvious reason). Hey, I was young and bigger was supposed to be better. Right?:D

  8. I bought a used Hurst shifter for the 3 sped in my 57 150 sedan when I was 17. We never flipped the shift arms on the tranny so the shift pattern was all buggered up. No one could drive it other than me, so that was a good thing. After that I bought two Keystone classics and some glue on white rubber letters and had 'genuine' 57 Chevy Radial T/A's :)

bought a pair of used sbc gold moroso valve covers and breathers and hold downs from a friend of my dad's....now that i think about it , it was probably the hedman headers for my chevy II wagon ...then the valve covers....not sure if i would classify the chrome valve covers i got for christmas when i was 14 as speed equipment , though , i suspect , they were everybit of speed equipment to me then....:D didn't get serious into the speed stuff till i got out of school and went to work for myself.....:D

Pontiac Tri-power setup for my 400 that I had in my 68 Chevelle....I bought it from SPEED CITY, Eastlake Ohio......They sold used stuff....but are now long gone...before I bought this, I tried to talk my mother into loaning me 1,200 bucks to by a jet engine out of the local Trade in Times, years later only to find out I had talked to Art Arfons, for he was the one selling it out of Akron Ohio....my mom would not loan her 16 yr. old son the money...I was sad...Littleman

A used Isky cam and a '55 Ford 4-bbl intake with a WCFB carb for my '57 Custom 300 272 Y-block. With stock converter and 3:00 gears, it didn't work too swift, but sounded cool idling. The '57 "Thunderbird Special" valve covers helped a lot too! lol

I bought a two year old Super Stocker (in 1962) and took the engine apart and had it bored .125 over with 12.5 to 1 pistons, balanced it and added an Isky cam. It already had 3 deuces and a four speed. As time allowed I covered the engine in every chrome part I could find in the JC WHitney catalog.

My first piece was a '28 Ford Tudor that my dad bought, I helped build and by the age 16 took over completely. My highschool hot rod. It was completley built for speed and I drove it everywhere.
