Fleet 100 '59 GMC. Ever seen one?

It is a rare truck. It has a Chevy cab and a GMC title. There are other items that are Chevy as well. I don't know how long they made them, but I have a picture somewhere of a '55 second series GMC Fleet 100, looks like a 55 Chevy shortbed with an expanded metal grill.

Check out the bottom left for the factory photo.

Thanks for posting all of the pics, I have one of the 100 models with the single head light, and a gmc 300 wrecker. That is why i was so interested in the 5 window cabs!

Your truck is going to be awesome when finished

  18. I read somewhere that fleet option trucks with the single headlights and the mesh grillework were built to save a few bucks on larger volume purchases.

i would mind having a 5 window cab myself. my understanding it was only the big 2ton and up GMC only, fleet option, in which the standard style cab is the same as a 1/2 ton cab

I found one of those '55-'59 5 window GMC huge-ass trucks locally about a year or so ago, I considered stopping and making an offer on it, then I realized I don't have the time or space to put together something wacky like that. Maybe if he'd let me sawzall off just the roof and parts I needed I could save it for later, but really, I don't need that right now.

Wish I'd brought a camera, though...

Not sure I like the look of the 5 windows on that cab??

But then I prefer small windows to the big window anyway.

Me too... here in North Carolina the big back window makes it a fishbowl in the summer... super hot if you don't have A/C, the small window stays cooler.
