UNSUNG HEROES...Who`s your best helper throughout the build?

I know building a car is alot of work but seems to me that if it weren`t for the help of some of my friends throughout all my builds,somehow it would have taken a lot longer for sure.Just having another set of hands around when you need it is a real big help.Nobody builds a car alone.
So for me the unsung heroes, for me would be guys like Dave Mainland,John Walton,John Denich { while my roadster was in Ca.}. This thread is for the other guys or gals that are maybe never mentioned on this board that maybe deserve a nod or a tip with a ten gallon hat.

Good mates who have helped are far too numerous to mention whether it's with expertise over the phone, or labouring along side me. The biggest support by far is my wife of 22 years, Toni. Without her help/support/encouragement, nothing would ever happen. Behind every good man there's normally a good woman!!

I have got to say CheaterCarl, I don't have a car that he hasn't put his hands on... or a child..... Seriously he knows his shit and learned it all from doing it all. Take a look at any of his cars they speak for themselves.

Well i would have to say that there are many people that are helping me.

First there is my girl friend Robin without her i wouldnt have even prob. bought my car she told me to!!!!

Then my buddys from Ol Skool Rodz forum who i met and actually live a few street away from me without them i would be lost long ago.

Then my buddies Bob who owns Fuerst Auto he is super smart and did some work for me no charge only as long as i finish my car.

Then my buddy Jesse who was there to help me all summer with small stuff and he was always there.

That said thanks to all those people helping me!!!

 

You and your friends build some of the coolest cars, John. What are you building now? As for myself, when I need four hands, the wife helps out. Other than that I took my axles to an axle specialist to press on some new bearings, and I've used an old time alignment guy twice(Two Macs).

My list could be a mile long....... My number one right hand man, is my father in law and best bud, Bill Ellershaw, without him, my garage is empty, after that my long time crew consists of Danny Ellershaw, Vinnie Punches, Michele Fiel and Liz. My wife Donna for not breaking my balls and taken care of the home front when I work and play. We race all the cars we build and it would be wrong not to mention my crew chief on our funny car Tommy Fox. Tommy also does a lot of the machining on my motors and handles all the cylinder head work. Jack Joyce is another person I have to mention, he is responsible for a lot of the body work on my heaps. Joey Collins and Jimmy Cameron also have to be named as they have painted the majority of my cars. With all that said, my Dad, even though he's not physicaly here, is my main motivation behind all my work.

Great thread John. My good friend Doug Shaffer does so much for all that get done. He is a wizard at metal working. He has helped me become much more aware of what needs to be done and how to do it. What started as a bench racing hot rod night, has become a full blown garage with our 7 year 51 Fleetline, my T, a corvair and some real good times with a good friend. I really appreciate his talent and friendship.

my son Timmy Jr ,my Dad Jack and my nephew Cody are the ones that help me the most Cody has just moved here and is learning how to work on cars. But he's learning With out these guys help I would be lost. Tim

 

My wife first, she took auto collision with me, helped with a lot of body work on my car, she can't do a whole lot,but she also supports me in this nuts hobby. have to say david maule at Maule air, without all the "junk" he's let me get,and good parts too, as well as a line of credit through the plant at nappa, plus all the small parts he's helped weld and so on over the years. not to mention he's taught me a ton about machine work. you think you know a lot,then you come across someone with a natural talent. and you realize you don't know shit. also all the welders at the plant too, no telling me how many parts they've welded for me. I can machine stuff all day,but my welding skills leave a lot to be desired.

 

My homie justin, he doesnt know jack about cars, but he's always down to grind/sand/clean etc..... I taught him how to mig weld last week. he did pretty darn good.

My lady keeps me supplied with coffee too.

 

my pops!!!! he has helped the most.

 

Myself... I you want something done, Do it yourself.

 

Thanks goes to my buddy Rich who has helped with the building one cool 36 Chevy, Painted my 32 5 window and now is helping build one super 36 5 wiindow Ford. I've learned so many skills that without his help and guidence would not be possible. Thanks Rich for your help and friendship.

Yeah I learned alot about flatheads from Len Hurley up here. He has built 4 flatheads and 2 y-blocks for me.He is quite a guy considering he`s been racing and building motors since the 40`s.Here is shot of the new flathead running on his shop floor just before I picked it up last week.O`l Skool guys rule man.Simply put....a wealth of knowledge.Who else charges 900.00 bucks to port,relieve,hone,assemble,and get it running ready to be installed.....LEN HURLEY...TimeBomb John

A very close second is my girlfriend and partner, Snow. When I need that extra hand or a kind word, she pitches in. I could not have made it this far without her support, help and approval!
