There are many of us out there who run Buick backing plates along with 45 or 90 fin drums on a 40 Ford spindle. In order to do this set-up, one of the necessary items is a spacer that goes between the spindle and the buick backing plate. We use to have a HAMB member who manufactured these adapters. As with everything, all good things must come to pass and the adapters aren't being made any longer by this individual.

Is there anyone out there that has picked up the task and manufacturing the adapter. If so, please send me a PM.

In the meantime, what are others doing to be able to get to use the Buick drum and braking mechanism on a 40 spindle. By the way, I already use fellow Hamb member's spindle adapter so that I can use the Buick hubs.

Any updates or recommendations will be appreciated.

I am not sure but I think MT Car Products used to make these adapters. He is the fellow who makes the Lincoln backing plates and related parts. mtcarproducts.com

I too have the time and machine shop to do it but would need the dimensions. I've got materials, everything from aluminum to tool steel. Let me know if I can help. I'd be interested in a couple of sets for myself too. I'm cheap too.... but good! Schockwave Speed & Machine

I believe that at one time Hot Rod Works in Nampa Idaho was making them. They are the same people who make open drive conversions for banjo rears.

Mecutem here on the board had a few sets machined up by I think it was his brother. His brother owned or worked in a cnc machine shop and had a program to turn them out. Might contact him and see if there are any left or the possibility of a new batch.
