At the shop we just channeled the body 3 1/2" now its time to chop the top i feel a 4" chop would be proper but i should probably show my buddy some pics before i cut up this pristine body. Show me whatcha got

Poor car, maybe your friend should take it somewhere else so that a professional that has done the work before can reassure him that it will be right! Being a "builder" maybe you should already have an eye for what looks good, instead of asking the masses. I've never done it myself but I'm just throwing it out there from my arm chair!

There is a very fine line over which 32 3Ws look squashed and 4" is over that line.

Mines cut 2.5 all around, but in my opinion it makes a difference with fenders or not. I'm running fenders but if I was going highboy I would have cut it 3.5 in front and 3 in back, and leaned the A pillars.

I agree with Krylon. Mine is cut 2 1/4" with the roof extended so the A pillar isn't laid back. My car is full fendered and the proportions look right. But for a hiboy 3 1/2" front and 3" back with the posts laid back has the best look plus you can still see out the front and sides. The FOGGER

Most folks think that this is the BEST LOOKING 32 3W ... ever chopped. :)
    The Doyle Gammell 32 3W.

I think it is chopped a little too much, but then I like them not chopped.

Thanks for the pics , i like them all i will show them to my buddy i would have to agree with a 3 1/2 chop if we were still running fenders he has had this car for 28 years with the body the way ford created it. The car has been a hot rod since the early fifties this car is a part of him it will never be sold just passed down generations so i feel the need to give him options, if it were my car it would be missing 4" from the roof right now.
    Thanks again ~ bryan

Here's one I had about 10 years ago. Chopped 4" in front and 4 1/2" in back.

If you chop to much, it will look like it is a Glassfibre body.
And that is not all good. Or?? :)

IMO- the best looking chop of all time has to be the Doyle Gammell car.
3" chop in front, 3 1/2 in rear.
I knew the car when my friend Tom Schiffilea had it.
Not this one. This is the car Doyle built later.
