Hehe...that was one of mine! I bought it out of a junkyard in florida as I recall. I have no idea what the hell it was supposed to be. I seem to recall it did have a V8 though. I think it was a wheelie car.

Theres a shortened Green 57 Chevy running around the Allentown Pa area the past couple years. Saw it this past summer. To each his own.

Even tough I started this nightmare. I have to agree that for the most part with very few exceptions of the pictures posted herein they look like clown cars. Way too much taken of them probably because it's easier rather than the work required to make them aesthically pleasing.

Most people quit after they are shortened but the job is only halfway finished! I admit shortening throws them out of proportion but when they are finished properly with a chop these are the slickest around. I saw a '55 that wash shortened, chopped and lowered, absoulutly one of the slickest '55's I have ever seen. It had many people thinking it had corvette roots.

I agree - at least with some of them. Some just look quirky. Most would look better with the rear wheel moved back a little, I think.

It shouldn't be hard to do. It only took me a few minutes on my computer. :)

  14. it always seemed to me the trend worked better with wagons (mostly 50s) than with cars ,early vans kinda had it going on too!

  15. I had a 57 Chev shorty wagonfor awhile when I was a kid. I like em. Lots of interesting ones pictured here, only a couple that dont do it for me. We have a 58 Ford wagon just sitting all covered up in the barn....time to fire up photoshop.

The shortening bug has been around a long time. Here is a factory Stutz from 1932. Some of the posted pics look really good and some are just horrible.

That Caddy is UNFUCKINBELIEVABLE! Do It! Do IT! DO IT! I love the spacey/fighter plane canopy look of the rear door glass merged withe the front foor glass. Damn...

  21. I'd like to see a side view of this one.

  22. I believe this one was in Car Craft around 1960. Was from Houston, too, I think.

Back in the 60s here in the Lansing, MI area there was an early Corvair and a 57 Olds that were shortend. Both were painted Lime green. The Olds resurface a few years back and the kid driving it was the son of the guy that did the original work. I haven't seen it now for maybe 3 or 4 years. The only weekly cruise spot closed up and that was that. Seem like there was a shortend 70 Chevy van running around too. Dk Blue.
Anybody have any pics of these?

If you don't like what you are seeing find another topic. It was obvious by the title "Shortened Cars" that the cars inside were going to be shortened and if that did not interest you why look?

If you think this forum is bad start your own since I have not found one better than this.

I remember that green Olds! In '72/'73 I was at MSU (I went there, I didn't actually DO anything towards my studies there!) I saw that car in a garage/gas station somewhere near campus. I recall thinking it was very cool, and certainly different than anything else on the street at that time. I wish I had a picture of it, it was in the back of my mind when I shortened my '56 Caddy.

Okay, I can handle the T and a few others but most of these are just far to "smurfy" for me to dig at all.

Some people didn't like them in the 60's and 70's, but I didn't particularly like their rides either and that is what makes the world go round. I now want a caddilac as bad as I have ever wanted anything. I am going to be dreaming about that. The trunk looks like it is long enough to camp in or hide a pu box in.
