Just bought my old 53 Panel back tonight. Here is a picture of it about 10 years ago in my old shop. Other then being painted now, looks just the same as it looked then. I'll post a current picture this week-end when I get it to the shop. :)

That is very cool. You just cannot beat commercial green on the Advance Design trucks.

Here are a couple shots of the 53.I have stuck in the back corner of a friends shop , so hard to get a good picture. Nice to get this one back after selling it 10 years ago. Not a color I'd paint it, but it's OK. Just remove the lettering on the doors tonight. Looks much better. I am very happy to have it back. :D

I'm young and clueless, so please forgive the ignorance. What is the rocket launcher looing thing on the side of this truck?

They are bfg somethings... they were the stock rims and tire on the S10 I used. I buffed out the whitewalls and letters. I used tire paint to get them that big. I'm just running them till we get something better.

Here is my old truck and it is a true 1948. It is the WZ JUNK (was junk) truck and that is its license plate. I have owned it for 22 years. This picture was taken many years ago at MOKAN when I was running slicks.

I had made a convertible out of it but then I changed my mind and I welded the top back on and chopped it four inches. The tilt front end is fiberglass. I made the frenched headlights out of fiberglass and also the fiberglass front bumper. I made molds and made the fiberglass running boards.

The bed has been made shorter by 8 inches and it has small wheel tubs. It is a modified S10 bed floor. Originally I built the truck pro street and it had the narrowed rear end and the big Mickeys on the rear.

The frame is a Nova on the front, the original 48 under the cab and an S 10 from the cab back. It has a 400 small block and a 350 turbo transmission.

I have been many miles in this truck and I have made many passes on the drag strip. It was the street rod shootout winner at the AHRA Reunion 4 times. My best time with street tires is 13.1.

I built this truck while I was still working and with all of expenses of a family, I had very little money for a hot rod. I traded an old body grinder and a Vixen file for the original truck and I got the Nova for the sub frame for $25. I made lots of things for it that I would probably buy if I built it today.

I have built and owned several of these trucks but I have always kept this one.

    John
