Depends on the vehicle. Some just don't feel right.

Every once in a while some Maroon comes by on a back road with his arm sticking out almost perpendicular to the car, so far out that I have to swerve over to protect my mirror. I pity the fool who tries that when I'm driving something with a mirror that I don't care about.

Hell yeah! My elbows on the sill and my hand is on the gutter. Don't matter driver or passenger... windows down, elbow out! Man! That's 2/40 air.

Some cars are just built so that it's natural to hang the arm out. Here's proof: I bought my '67 fastback from a 93-year old female librarian. She'd owned the thing since '69 (the summer of love), yet all the paint was worn off the top of the drivers door. In the exact same place I rest my elbow when driving. Since she didn't seem like the type to do ANYTHING for the sake of hipness, I gotta assume it was just because it felt right.

  10. Sorta goes with this thread. Not that any of us would confess. But how many times have you stopped at a light and caught the guy in the next lane diggin in his nose & stare at him till he Knows he's an idiot.:D

    You are an idiot.
Where were you in the 50s?

I have been driving my 39 Ford pickup every day for 16 years.

I have two sons who grew up in that truck because its my number one driver: I dont have a modern car.

Try putting 3 people in the cab of a 39.
It has always been automatic to roll the windows down as soon as we get in and stick our elbows out.....makes more room inside.

Alas, that's why I can't drive a chopped car, my muscles are so big my arm won't fit out the window.:(

it's comfortable and it keeps your arm cool on a hot summer day (i'm missing that terribly right now, snow sucks!)

  19. Forget the arm hang...what about all the ugly cars in that video? can't crappy rockabilly bands start writing songs about Volares and Cordobas and stuff so these dorks stop ruining good iron?

    Let see;
Its easier to give the V wave
Its quicker to fly the bird
Always faster to slap a bicyclist on the back of the head for blocking the lane while BS'n with his buddy
In an 'A' there's nowhere to put your left arm
Blows the sink off my left armpit
Oh and the real reason IT'S COOL

  22. When my left arm goes brown and wrinkly, I jump into my Right hand drive car to even it up. Anyway it's 110 degrees down here and I sure aint leavin' those windows up.(What the hell is snow?)
I always try to hang a leg out the window as well, it scares the crap out of little old ladies.

I like hanging my head out the window so my ears and cheeks flap in the wind and I can smell all the road kill.
