how many of your jobs are not car related???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by chopt55bc, Jan 16, 2009.

  1. I design prototype machinery and automation for industry. Only about 15 to 20% of my work is automotive related. ---Of course, right now that doesn't mean shit, because the other 80% of my customers are so freaked out by all this "economy crash" stuff that they are terrified to spend any money on developing new things. So--I am setting around unemployed untill some of this economy crunch sorts itself out.---Brian

  2. Brighthouse by any chance? Hook a brother up. I will rub out Big Olds for ya:D

  3. Project Architect. When I was in college back in the '80s I remember one old fart at a rod run who gave me some real sage advice: "Become one of the people who took the time, got an education and get to a point where you can afford to hire someone to do the work." Well, it took a long time to work up the ladder to hit that point, but I LOVE my job. EXCEPT for the constant (and growing) pounding from enviro-wackos wanting to turn the world "green" and relegate everyone to mass transit, eliminate conspicuous consumption, live in high-density neighborhoods elbow-to-elbow and ban any type of petroleum-consuming, carbon-emitting activity. Sometimes it's tough being a car-guy and a professional, but that's why I've got a place in the country that I can park a parts car outside and not get hell from the local do-gooders.

  4. Hey Chop55bc start doing body work on the side if you have a garage at home, you'll be surprised how many would like to have repairs at cheap prices. I did that years ago and had many clients by word of mouth. Eventually I got a job at local Chevy dealer, they called me to come in and talk about a job. I then worked my way up to service manager.

UNEMPLOYED for 11 months. 30 years experience as Executive Secretary/Assistant. Worked since I was 15 yrs old. Anything out there in the Southwest Michigan area? I'm just west of Kalamazoo. If things get too bad, I may have to start a 900 number, ha! And my husband has tossed the thought around about a porno star (but that's just out of the question in my book)! Good luck to everyone out there!

Security around the globe? Did you work for a PMC/PSC, someone like AEGIS, Olive Group or Armour Group?
(Or for you US guys, Blackwater)
If you did Id be looking back into it, word is Africa (Darfur) and Afghanistan are going to warm up, some company's are looking for experienced operators.
Id be all over it if I could!
Any ex-military guys, especially with Spec Ops experience should look into this, pay can be up to $450USD a day if you dont mind a little danger.
