Snowboarded for a living. Then sold motorcycles. Now I work in wireless technology. All text by phone advertising. Sales, service, development. I haven't had to clean the bathroom yet. If I have to, I will.

I build & test industrial & scientific compressors & reactors. most of our work is out of country( so we're busy- 55 hrs a week), alot of work is for oil companies & the goverment.
....we also build hydrogen compressors , the kind used to fuel cars.

if you were a mechanic get into the service industry or look for jobs titled under industrial assembly, but stay away from the "toaster assembly positions". in the field I am in auto mechanics fair well because compressors are all piston driven alot. it helps if you can read a blue print ,follow electrical schematics & trouble shoot too.

I make prosthetics. I get to use a bunch of shop skills, get paid OK, and see it change peoples lives. I love it!

  8. I've mentioned this before: I was briefly a car designer (Stylist) till the recession of 1980/'81 killed that. Went back to exhibits/museums/trade show designer, with a brief interlude being an art gallery/furniture store owner, till the body revolted against me in 1996. So, I'm retired, but not by choice.

Hard surface floor covering installer for 15 yrs. till the economy took a hit on me last year. Now I install geothermal heating systems. I am GLAD to be off my knees. Never had any problems but didn't want to wait to find out either.

I'm a college Cross Country coach, but I'm looking for another part time job.

In grad school, I was an office manager/ parts getter/ lawn mower/ fill in the blank for a shop in Costa Mesa, so I have worked with cars for a while.

We build high end carbon fiber stuff. But we work in automotive, aerospace, archetechture, and alternative energy fields; so we cover several areas to make us more recession resistant.

I went to auto body school in the late 80's, worked about 3 months in the field, couldn't hang with old guys that had been doing it since before I was born. Now I'm do helpdesk/computer support line for a health insurance company. I did work as a blackjack dealer in a CT casino for awhile, until a pinched nerve wrecked my back and second hand smoke got the better of me.

Union sheet metal worker... but since I am "the car guy" I get to do all the fleet maintenance as well, so every few months I am doing something car related there.
