This was sold to me as Chev SBC to Lasalle trans..

I did my HAMB research and I think it is: an aluminum adapter that bolts to a 55-64 Cadillac motor, and has an original 49-54 Cad cast iron half bell that came off of a stick trans...with the so called "later Lasalle" trans pattern like the 50 Olds stick ??

Is that correct? Thanks in advance;)

Yeah thats Caddy,,Offy made adapters for those I belive, there should be a # above where the trans bolts up 55** something I think

on and as far as 55-64 Don't think you can do it,,pretty sure remember hearing the cranks are not drilled for an imput shaft..though don't know how true that is

    Hi All,

Sorry to pull this old post back back from the archives but i have a similar issue that i'm sure somebody here can help with. We have a '62 cad 390 engine that needs to be mounted to a '37 floor shift LaSalle trans. I have bought a '50 olds bellhousing to try and get close, but does anyone know where i can find the piece that might link this to the engine? Or should i have waited to find an early ohv 331 cad engine?

    Thanks

You and I both need that adapter!

Your Olds bellhousing should bolt right up to a 331 as you know.

Crankshaft may need to be drilled for clearance and a pilot bearing will have to be installed.

I have confirmed that the 390 crank needs to be drilled to clear the LaSalle trans input shaft. I would guess a 1/2 inch would do it. you'll need to make a bushing for the input shaft as well of course.
