MoonEyes USA, anyone had problems?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by DocWatson, Oct 18, 2008.

  1. OMG! that "car" looks like a hairball some JapCat hucked up after eatin' Chinese panda! Anthony that sounds like a great idea. Might turn into a 2nd job tho; I don't know how much biz Moon has that needs shipping. Doc since you had to let your car go (that's tough!), do you still need the stuff from Moon? If not maybe let the folks here know what it is & anybody can use it, get with you & Anthony to work out the $$$ & other details. Just a thought.

Dean must be rolling in his grave. I have bought from them in the past and been jerked AROUND LIKE MANY OF YOU, I THINK THEY DON'T LIKE TELLING PEOPLE THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK AND DON'T WANT TO LOSE THE SALE, SO THEY TRY AND BAFFLE YOU WITH BULLSHIT.I bought one of their MOON tachs, what a piece of jap crap. The only thing I will buy from them is their memorabilia in memory of Dean Moon.

I think you just severely insulted the Japanese. You should wish this stuff had that quality. In case you haven't been on the planet Earth for a bit, most Japanese products are pretty good now.The crap comes from elsewhere and, again, it's not because they can't make it good, it's because we the customers want it cheap and we put up with the bad companies like Moon.

I've only dealt with Bill Jenk's in the machine shop. Great guy, great service, incredible work.

A true Potvin cam ground by Jenk's is a work of metal art. The man is still one of the best and humble in the business.

Good luck, Doc. I hope it gets sorted out for you.

I've only ordered one thing from them since the Japanese bought them out. I got such crappy service and slow shipping that I'll NEVER buy from them again. It took 11 weeks to get a set of freakin' valve covers. They have absolutely nothing in their inventory that I can't replace with another company's product. They've gone the way of the average auto parts store: They discontinued the REAL car parts to make room for neon lights, spinner hubcaps, tribal flame decals and Pokemon air fresheners. F*ck Moon. They have far too much competition out there to be jerking people around the way they do...AND they sold out to the Japanese.

  6. I bought from them about 6 years ago and the service and product were great.

Seems like a lot (not all) of the ones who have had good service are on one coast or the other. Maybe they think no one should be hot rodding in the middle of the country. When I had problems, I was living in Kansas City, MO.

  11. I stopped mailordering after they stopped answering the phone when I called a few different times to place an order. I am only over the grapevine from them and sometimes it would take 3 weeks for an instock item. I now buy at Famoso during March meets or CHHR thats it. You can see what you are buying then plus the quality.-Weeks

Well finally something happened! I got an e-mail from Moon about my stuff, it arrived back there on the 13th! They have offered to re-send it without cost. I took up the offer so I hope all goes well this time.
I sorta get the feeling from the e-mail that they may be waking up to the damage this is doing to the business, sending that all the way here is not cheap at all. It was over $100 bucks the first time!
    Doc.

  13. I guess if you don't walk in and get it you won't get it. Nice, another American icon bites the dust. I won't say that it's becasue of foriegn influence.

Don't mean to bring this up AGAIN, but a year later and still no improvement. My wife ordered some stuff for my birthday 3 weeks in advance. She personally asked if each item was in stock or not, she was told yes.

My birthday came and went, no shipment, no notification. She checked the site repeatedly and all it ever said was "pending". A week after my birthday she cancelled the order.

    Buyer beware of Moon Eyes.

  16. so Doc, howed you get on? do i have to throw my moon piston shifter knob away? im going to take the moon sticker off my ot tonner!

  17. usually I have no problems with them usually speak or email with Robin or Chico - had a double billing one time that Robin couldnt find because it wound up being a combined billing that was from a backorder that I already got - Bob found it and took care of it -told me he will make it woth my while on the next order and I believe he will I think they have excellent customer service when given the chance !!!
give them a chance to reconcile

  18. they usually update me by email on my order when it is taken ,packaged and the when it has been shipped - everytime

I got this 1920's radiator mascot (which is a skull, with a flowing scarf) It's supposed to have an articulated jaw, but the jaw is missing. Moon sells a repop for $100. If I bought this thing just to get the jaw, I'd probably only get the half I already have. (I actually did E-mail them & asked them if they could just sell me a jaw. No answer, of course.)

I got one of their cheapo 3-gauge sets in my '55 pickup. The volt meter is fine, the oil pressure is fine, the water temp gauge hasn't moved in the three months it's been on there. I was going to get a matching fuel gauge as well, but that ain't gonna happen now. Yes, they have the obligatory little gold oval labels.

I don't think it's the Japanese', I think it's the guys in Cali. or at least that's been my problem. Can't seem to figure out what they do or do not have.

It's really sad to see a company like Moon, who have been at the core of our hobby for so long, generate such bad feeling.God knows what the reasons are, just hope they can get their act together and sort themselves out.
That's fuckin' outragous how long your orders taken,Doc.Hope you get it resolved.
I've allways used a speed shop over here for my orders. That way I don't get the hassles of orders going missing, bullshit excuses and customs problems.
I'm lucky that I've found a good company that I can trust. If somethings going to take a while,I get told.If it's in stock,I get it in a couple of days.I also get regular updates regarding the status of my orders.Never had a problem. They've even put me onto one of their competitors when I needed something urgent! Thanks Paul (Zipford on here) and Guy at Duksville speed shop.
Yeah,I know,a blatant plug! These guys do a great job and deserve it!

Thanks Mark, I don't care they can keep the parts and the money its only a couple of hundred bucks. I know any orders are going to be through Chopper here in Oz if I ever do buy a Moon part again.
Serves me right for trying to save a few $$ buying direct. If its not in stock I don't need it anymore!!
    Doc.

  27. I hate to complain, but I would not recomend them. I had a bit of a problem. I ordered some airscoops and disc filters over their website. They sent air horns instead. I called and they said they would send a drop ship tag to return the items. They would be sending the rights parts in the meantime. The cost of the parts was the same so it was just a matter of swapping them. 10 days goes by and no action. I called and they had no clue they talked to me. They again stated they would fix the problem. Finally, I got the right parts. However, they charged my credit card and additional $25. It took three separate phone calls to get them to credit my card. Now I check periodically to make sure they didn't recharge me. It's ashame such a good company has had these issues. Their original parts such as cast aluminum parts and spun aluminum tanks rule. I will look to other venders for them in the future.

They send a single order in multiple shipments so they can nail ya with multiple shipping charges! Even after they quote you a price with shipping, they'll ship it in multiple boxes a few days apart and stick ya with a new shipping charge on every box!

Just another way of making money. Too bad they screw their customers, the very people who are WILLING to keep them in business.

  29. You would be hard pressed to see someone not of Japanese descent at their vender trailer at anyplace they have it from my experience. They are always friendly but seem limited in their customer service area across the board. When all the fella you are buying parts from can say is the price and "Yeah" after every question you ask thats bad IMHO. Don't get me wrong I really appreciate that the company still exists and provides products to us.-Weeks

Back in the day I was a parts guy at a GM dealership (1987) and we had microfiche and a very rudimentary computer material tracking system, even with the computer we went in back to make sure it was there and would let the customer know the status.

Sounds like Moon has a bunch of paycheck theives working there, save for the mystical Robin it would appear. Unfortunately there aren't enough Robins to go around in Califas. If the Japanese were serious about this business they would fire all non-players and bring in new staff who would run it efficiently. Personally, I'd have the staff selected, hired, trained, and brought into the facility through the front door as the new fire-ees were walking escorted out the back. That goes for the management as well, it doesn't sound like they are accountable at all.

Yes, I'll be your new manager, but it will cost you.
