Hey!!! You did steal this from my backyard.(I live in Wichita) I can not count how many times that I've driven thru neighborhoods and wondered what is behind some fences, in garages, and such. Im sure many of you guys would convince your wife to take a drive after dinner to see the neighborhoods and the whole time your trying to catch a glimpse of any old iron that may be tucked away. Great find and please continue to posting photos so We all can see the progress.. Grandet23
Nice score.......great progress..... Is it me.......or is Kansas a bit overloaded with a few to many sought after classiscs???? Keep up the good work. P.S. I scored my 46 ford cpe. aka/ the ratty 46 from Ks. too. Paco
Ok, it may be a bit soon for an update but I wanted to show off what my 8 year old daughter helped me make. After I welded in the patch for the front half of the quarter I had to tackle the back half. Problem here is when the wheel house was raised the two body lines came together. When I cut it loose I split the body line down the center. So we made a patch that has part of both body lines on it. Ended up making both because the first time we rolled it backwards. I think she is going to be a hot rodder!
That is a Lennox tru-edge machine, similar to a Pullmax. I just bought it from a fellow Hamber. The patches for my quarters are the first thing I have made with it. I ran them thru my HF bead roller then contoured them with the Lennox. Still learning how to use it.
Nice to have the right tools. Bet that half bead panel cut down on the welding warpage. thanks for posting the updates, real nice project.
Yeah Thats kinda what I was hoping. I will weld it in this weekend as long as my job doesn't call. Also thinking about attempting to make new quarters. I feel cocky after those patches and my daughter is up for the challenge. Not sure yet, I dont want to get side tracked ruining a bunch of sheet metal.
Finally got back out in the shop and worked on the quarter panel. Still needs some hammer and dolly work but it is all one piece again. One down one to go.
Nice work on the coupe. I have a simillar machine to your Lennox. Mine is a Baker Truedge. Mine looks smaller. If you ever get a chance I would like some pictures of the guide that runs on the slide inside the throat. Mine is missing. Jeff
Started on the steering. I like the way the 32 box looks but after some thought I decided to use a 56 F-100 box. I have an earlier F-1 but I like the stock column drop and the F-1 puts the steering wheel to close to the dash. I turned the mounting flange off the box and started making a new one to weld on at the correct angle. Decided to go this route rather than the wedge route in an attempt to move the box to the out side a bit for more header clearance. I'm itchin to finish it but my kids are sick so I am in the house today tending to them.
They are around. Finding one at a good price is the trick. Here is a couple of pictures of when I drug it home.
Hello Irondoctor, After numerous attempts to obtain a set of subrails from Brookville for my three window, I wound up with a set of originals from ebay. They wre exspensive to be sure and need repair but are usable. My question is how did you manage to get Brookville to sell you a set? Every time I would inquire about them I was told they would be in production soon, but soon never seemed to arive. Thanks, MickeyC
I called them up and bought the subrails, tailpan, floor, rear triangle braces, and the braces under the top of the trunk to the floor. They had it all in stock and shipped to me in a few days. Are you emailing them or calling? I had emailed for some prices with not much luck but no issues when I called. I am very happy with the quality of the parts.
I just have to say...if you weren't doing such an awesome job and getting your kids out there with you I'd be real angry. I've got family in Winfield and am through Shocker-ville regularly and I've never found anything quite like that. I'm jealous, I admit, but at this point I know I don't have the money or skill to build the 32 I want to build. So I'm glad you got it and are doing such an awesome job. Next time I'm through that way I might just pm you...I'd love to see it in person!
