I scored an OLD work light, and I'm trying to figure out when it was made. It's a "Utilight" from "Woodward Machine Co, Detroit". I'm guessing that it's probably from the 30's or so, but that's purely a guess. There are no patent numbers anywhere on it, and no UL listing, so I don't have ANYTHING to go on to date it, other than it's "style". Anybody know what years the company was in business? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Steve
Thanks, but I wouldn't really think so... it's seems odd that they'd go from making tools and stuff in the 1930's in Detroit, and then a bunch of years later end up on the other side of the country making a completely different product line. FWIW, the light I'm referring to is a slightly less adjustable version of this.
Here are a few pics... excuse the crap in the background; the basement's still pretty trashed from moving.
I just bought a bead-roller and box and pan brake from Woodward Fab last year. Betcha it's the same people. Check their website. They market their own stuff and other's. I just got the less expensive stuff on a greybeards advice that if I Really needed it and was making money with it I could translate that into better equipmt.
Thanks, but I don't think it's the same company... I know the one you're talking about, and they've only been around for like 40 years.
Yep, with that super Deco styling at the bottom it could be as old as the late 20s and being industrial might have carried unmodified up through the end of WWII and maybe even into the early 50s.
Looks / sounds like a cool light, but I've not heard of this brand or company and I lived in the Detroit area for many years.... I Googled it, but I'm sure you did not and still got nothing....
