Nice, KM! I'm gonna do something similar to my '61 wagon...kind of a "nerf bar" type separate-bumper idea....:)

Here is a pretty cool circuit racer from the early '70s. Campained by a bloke by the name of Gene Cook. We love our Touring Car racing down here!

These are a couple of my former Falcons. I would love to get the wagon back!
Sold it to a Ford guy in Washington state in a moment of need, back in 2000.
Anybody know who has it now?

Sold the Ranchero to a cute little landscaper gal in Seattle in '96

    Keep them coming.

Westside, would love to hear what that thing sounds like :)

I'm not sure that I understand Arlo's joke, as it is funny on three levels.

MUNCIE, I've got a Mevarick axle as well. Tucks 235/60's on steelies nicely into the factory wheelwells. Gotta watch though, the stub of the axle that locates the wheel is larger than the early mustang axles. Early steel wheels won't fit without a little help from the holesaw, or in my case the end-mill.

westside, damn. That thing is freaking sweet!

Thanks MK still not to sure what to go with.I basically just want something to bolt up and don't want to spend too much time on the fit for now.Just want her on the road for now.Still searching for a donor car though for now have to stay on the transmission.:)

  18. Here's mine. Well it used to be. It was my first car. I've been looking for it so I can try to buy it back. Anyways, it was a '62 with a '63 grille. I shaved the emblems, but left the windsplits on the fenders. I ran only 3 leaves and 3"blocks with air shocks in the rear, and 2 coils cut with spacers on my shock towers, to get it as low as possible. (Before bags came out)

I put in Honda Accord bucket seats with the headrests removed and a stock Futura console. I also converted it from a Ford-o-matic to a 4 speed out of a 64 Futura because I kept smashing or scraping tranny pans......The price we pay to be in the weeds i guess....LOL

This car isn't my style, but I must admit to being intrigued by the concept of a small-block Chevrolet in a Falcon. I have the 1960 issue of Hot Rod where they shoehorned a Y-block into a Falcon (and if I ever find my scanner, I'll post that article here). I have to think some hot rodder saw that and thought how much easier it would be to slip in a 283.

To that end, if I had two Falcons to do (keeping the six being my first choice), I would build a '60-'61 style hot rod coupe with a '60 Corvette drivetrain.

I got my car 3 years ago, bone stock. Somebody's grandpa's car that had been put in storage when the old man got too old to use it. I stuck a 289 and a T5 in it and drove it a couple years, then I went to the HRR the one year they had it here and decided the car was too boring and that it needed a straight axle and more speed. Now it's got alum. heads, cam, 4.11's, trak-loc, lexan windows, heater/radio/rear seat/window crank/front bumper delete.

Got a tunnel ram all set up waiting for the snow to melt, along with harley turn signals for the front and a big ugly scoop to cover the carbs in the rain, and maybe getting a better T5 to replace the busted one that's in there now.

If the freezing rain lets up I'll go out and take a picture of it without the bumper, and post a pic I took when I got it for a comparo of what I've done so far.

Here we go... This might also be the first instance of someone putting a Ford 9-inch under a Falcon. Something I'd venture to say has been done considerably more often since than putting in Y-blocks.

  28. I've got an old HOT ROD mag with an article titled "Hot Rodding the Ford Falcon". It showed the installation of the Offenhauser 3 carb manifold on a 6 cylinder. It was an early 60's issue as well. I'll post it if I can find it.

The March 1960 Hot Rod Article, "Making the Falcon Fly" detailed installing an Edelbrock Tripower adapter and three single barrel Holleys into a 1960 Falcon.

This is a picture of the Edelbrock Tripowered 200 with three glass bowled Holleys I had in a '63 Ranchero back in 1999. The Ranchero had an early air bag system fairly crude by today's standards as bagged cars were not as common 10 years ago as they are today.
