Mike did you have some Pink Tacos?

  3. Fortunately, I cannot legally recall. All I can say is the Juarez live version of 'Hee Haw' has nothing to do with Buck Owens or corny jokes.

So what did you do? Did you just tow it through the regular line or did you go over with the trucks and import it all legal like?

Since it came over on Friday after 5:30, the Mexican customs lanes were closed. So it came over on the "special" lane. If you know what I mean. By the way, El Sapo forgot to mention he was made an honorary Mexican.

Just got back from SEMA and they told us at the Hot Rod magazine booth that the issue with the Orbitron should be on the newsstand on November 20.

I'm not a real hot rod builder but I do the plastic models of them .
After reading up on all this, I bet that any old model kits still around ( un built ) Have just trippled in price on Ebay.

seeing that its back up, anyone know whats going on with it???

  16. Pick up the latest Hot Rod with the Orbitron feature. It's all there and looks great.

BTW, there wasn't any arrangement to produce an Orbitron model kit. I think it's the only Roth show car without one.

Sorry for posting old news. I read through the first couple of pages. There's 12 pages total. Half of which are comments saying "no way!" "how cool!" "Roth is my idol".

    So, I skipped ahead.

The last comment in this thread before I posted, someone was hoping to see it restored and asked to see more pics of it.

This whole story brought a smile to my face. Even if the story is "old news" now I just stumbled across it and its new to me.

I was lucky enough to meet Roth in Reno in a parking lot where he was selling tee shirts and stickers. My buddies didnt get it. They didnt know who he was or what he did. At 19 I knew,....so I walked right up to his booth, bought about 3 tee shirts, 4 sitckers, and got an autograph. I asked Roth if I could buy him a soda ( it was hot out) but he sent me for a snow cone instead. Bought a lime snow cone and delivered it back to. Then he made fun of my hair cut and I left.

Not a great story, but at least a story.

Glad to see this one wont be a dumpster anymore.

    Well Howdy,

Up Dates Coming soon, just allowing all the printed press to come out first!

If it weren't for them books and magazines that influenced us old farts we all wouldn't be able to do what we are doing today. So printed matter is a good thing, it's easier to lug around and it's something you can put in your greasy hands on, if'in ya know what I mean.

Ever get grease on yer keyboard?.. it's a bitch to get off....

http://www.theorbitron.com will be getting a face lift in the next week or so with unpublished photos and the like.

Here is a couple for now!

The Orbitron and Big Daddy Roth at the Arizona State Championship Auto Show in Phoenix, Arizona ( i think at the Arizona State Fair grounds Exhibition center. I went but it was so long ago) in 1964. Also at that show was Gene Windfield's "Jade Idol" and "Solar Scene", Bill Cushenberry's The Silhouette" and Clovin Emmon's Indy Inspired Roadster. This was a Special Edition of The Beeline Dragway's Pit Exchange October 1964
