Edit, Sorry that I didn't see Denise's original post for this. I did a search first but I guess I didn't look through it far enough! If I had seen hers I just would have bumped it to the top--

"Speed Capital of the World, Bonneville" will be on the Discovery Channel Monday at 10pm eastern time and at 2am Tuesday.

  6. It was about the salt i'll give you that but i watched most of the show like a porno. Fast fwd to get to the good parts and there was not many there.
I thought it would be better but it was just a joke and bragging right to Troy and Poteet.
If you should miss it, your not going to loose sleep.

Thanks for the heads up. I watched it the first time, but it worth another view. Not hard core, but these shows never are. What they didnt show us was Poteets cuda ripping the driveshaft out of the thing on the back up run. Thats why he doesnt have the record. Saw the thing on the floor at Troys shop. Moly steel twisted apart. I cant quite figure that one out. There isnt that much traction on the salt.

I thought it was worth the hour, but I was let down on the story line and the production.
The over playing and cutting to commercial stuff was very boring and a waste of time.

Watching ANY TV program on Speed Week sure beats watching people dance or sing.

For what little coverage we get to see on racing on the salt (and in a round about way that might be a good thing) any coverage is worth watching even if it happens to be the
    Troy and George show.

I saw the show the first time around and I just want to add to this thread that it IS worth a watch. Heck, I'll probably watch it again tonight...

My wife and I have had The Discovery Channel on all day as we work around the house. We are listening for an ad for the program maybe mentioning times for the West Coast. Haven't heard any and damn, I'm getting sick of listening to Cash Cab and trying to answer the questions!!
Hope you can "check local listings" or maybe someone else can help with the time for the West.

  18. On the left coast, it airs on the Discovery Channel (and in some markets Discovery HD Theater) @ 7:00 PM PST ... and again @ 11:00 PM PST.

I too saw it when it first aired ... and agree it wasn't the best coverage of Bonneville Speed Week ... but I'll probably watch it again tonight ... like Denise stated, it beats watching someone singing or dancing!

Ouch. But I'll be watching this time (had family holiday stuff last time). Wish I had some cookies for this show...

  20. I don't speak for Roadsters.com (Dave Mann) ... but I'm pretty sure when he said "we" ... he meant himself and his wife and/or family ... I read many of Dave's posts and have noticed that uses the term "We" (vice "I") a lot.

... Oh, and thanks for the reminder to watch the show ... I don't think Dave or any other HAMBer begrudges you for the "repost".

While I agree with his statements about the inaccuracies in the post-production of this Speed Capital of the World: Bonneville program ... and respect his Drag Racing historian credentials ... I still have trouble stomaching anything that comes out of Bret Kepner's mouth ... next to Jason "Howard Cosell" Priestley's narration of the first season of RIDES, Bret "FM Radio Disc Jockey" Kepner's narration has got to be the most annoying voice in Motorsports television. :D

Dicovery has a website where you can check your "local" listings.
    I didn't make through the 1st showing.
Thanks for the heads up on the repeat.
A bad show on salt tv still beats a lot of the cr*p on TV.

Well, I watched the show and it wasn't bad, maybe a little redundant. I didn't feel they featured Poteet's team any more than the other teams they were following. Was pretty good at showing some of what goes on out on the salt. I enjoyed it.

  24. I watched it when Denise posted it the first time, and I watched most of it tonight again. Any show on Bonneville is worth watching good or bad, I wish I could have made it to the event last year.

My dad recorded it for me after reading your post. Thank You. I am so glad that I was able to see the girl from Texas on her bike (Leslie Porterfield). I hope someday I could go to the Salt Flats even just to watch.

That's exactly what I thought. I'm glad I didn't listen to the people on here who badmouthed it.

I saw the show... 205 mph on two wheels; outstanding! Courage, determination, and ingenuity... Bonneville, what more can I say.

Same here. There was ten great minutes of Bonneville stuff, and 50 minutes of adverts and repeated video clips and rubbish. Why oh why do they feel the need to run that girls fucking streamliner crash 8 times??????????????????????? For fucks sake we saw it the first time, but again, and again, and again??????

Whatever, the good ten minutes was great, some real interesting stuff, glad I watched it, but I wish the people who produce the show would get with the program a little better and dump the multi-repeated fill-in drivel and fake drama.
