Well, tonight I am a very happy man. I finished painting my body and unmasked it. In the pics below it probably doesn't look that different from the ones I posted yesterday, but in person...wow.

Now the body is FAR from flawless but it came out far better than I had anticipated.

I still have to clean out and seal my tank before I paint it but that is the last part I need to paint. Let the assembly begin.

A great start to 2009 Striper, congratulations. That green makes me envious, what is it if you don't mind?

The colour is a custom mix of acrylic lacquer. I just had this colour in my head and spent years looking for something as a sample. I eventually spied a coloured pencil in the local art shop that had the colour on the end of it. I had the paint shop match it.

Then as I stated above, it was a bit too bright on a big surface so I added some black tinter I happened to have. It also has flattener in it.

I have some drilled brake backing plates.

Wasps get in thru the holes and build nests inside.

I've already missed several. I'll miss this weekend (Kustom Nats) too.

I rolled the chassis out into the sunlight for the first time since finishing it. It was a lovely day so I washed off all the shed crud and shot a couple of pics.

I put the caps and rings on for the occasion. First time I'd seen them on the car.

    Neat!

hey youve got those funky Olympic trojans on the front! I LOVE those tyres!! ive got one 6.50 16, and have been keeping a lazy eye out for another. Such a ruling sidewall design!

love the shocks too. are they chev, ford or something else??

Yeah, those Olympics are pretty cool. They came with the '48 chassis I bought as the original donor for all my axles, wheels, etc. They're 6.00 x 16s.

I'm not sure about the shocks. I bought the front ones for $10 pr at Ballarat years ago. Then I found a full set of 4 at Bendigo a couple of years back. Only thing wrong with them is they're single acting. They fit good and look good though. Neither seller knew what they were off.

I'll post up some less arty shots later.

Looks great. How do you go with the split wishbones attaching to the frame? I thought the ASRF won't allow it? Just curious because this is what i want to do with my roadster up in Brissy.

  28. Very nice Pete, slowly sure does do it! Do it once do it right.... hopefully :D Well that was my motto and it proved successfull.

Looking forward to seeing it out and about.

  29. Tis fine for SR reg down here as far as the ASRF are concerned.

By the way do you know Mez? Got a chopped 2 doored EK, Custom Val Delivery just to name a few.
