Just bought a boxful of assorted wheel bearings from an old shop that is going out of business.The numbers are clearly marked on the boxes but I don't know what they fit.Anyone know of an online(preferably)reference list of bearings?I've done a couple of searches but haven't found anything yet.Thanks in advance. Ray, the numbers are pretty much universal, So you can use anyone's book to check applications. You going to IDIDIT? saturday? I might be able to hook you up.
Well now, what you need is a "classic car application guide". Bearing books by themselves won't tell the application, and current automotive bearing books only go back just so far. I personally have a number of books, perhaps I can help ID.
I've got the same thing going on. I got a bunch of wheel bearings at an auction recently, and I dont' need them (I don't think).. I have no way to find out what application they are used for. They are made by New Dimension, and I'm guessing they are from 1975 or thereabouts. http://www.whiteboard.net/~luke/auction_parts/parts.jpg bottom row in this photo are all wheel bearings. the numbers are on the box, but I figured you'd be screwed without a manufacturer reference manual.

[/ QUOTE ] Yes I'll be there for sure.The bearings are all wheel bearings as far as I can determine.I'm primarily interested in finding out if any of these will fit the inner side of my front wheels as that number is no longer listed.The books I've looked at list Pontiacs from 47-52 and 58-61 but no 55-57.I know the outers are B-01 and I think the inners are B-60 but the numbers on the boxes are 6-digits.I guess I could pull one out of the car to check them.
The 909062 fits the front wheels of 46-54 Buick and Caddys. What do you want for the 909052s? they fit my old trucks. [email protected]

The only ones I have listings for are the bearings... 909001 = B01 fits the outer on lotsa 40s-50s Chevys outer front 909052 = B52 fits the inners on 50s Chevy pickups 909062 = B62 fits 46-54 Buick, Cad, 53-58 Olds inner front 909073 = B73 fits 58-60 Buick, 58-59 Cad, 59-61 Olds front outer 909066 = B66 fits 57-60 buick, 57-59 cad, 59-61 olds front inner
Thanks for the heads up. What are bearings like this worth? I am kind of surprised they are for cars this old, because I figured the parts were from the day the shop closed (1977).. I spent 80 bucks at the auction that day on my boxes of goodies, so I was thinking about selling some of the stuff. The GAS-22 gas caps are chrome dome style, and fit my '54 ford, so I did get ONE part out of the bunch plus like 100, 6 volt westinghouse bulbs of various sizes.
Those big old ball bearings can be pricey at the parts store...although there isn't much demand for most of them these days. Wild guess real life value is about $20 each for the inners, $10 or so for the outers. Look on ebay! I'd be willing to buy all four 909052s for $50, if you'd go that low.

My Federal-Mogul (1963 edit.) reference manual calls for '55-'57 Pontiac bearings (#BCA numbers) as follows: 909060 = front inner ('55-'57) 909001 = front outer ('46-'57) 88128-R = rear wheel ('55) RW 508 DR = rear wheel ('56-'58) I believe bearing manufacturers use the same universal numbering system and the part number will tell you the bearings' characteristics (i.e. class of bearing, type of bearing, etc.). FYI, New Departure was factory GM stuff. I think Hyatt also supplied GM, but New Departure was actually a GM division. Got any tapered cone bearings?

Timken doesn't have an old-car application guide that I'm aware of. At least I don't have one. I could maybe cross-refernce those numbers to another brand, if someone else happens to have a different application guide.
I'm new here, but my old iron is John Deere. Looking to cross reference New departure numbers 909621 and 909521. These are the inner and outer races, also need the bearing rack that goes with these. Need 3 sets. Thanks 39 JD H in pieces
